Mexico v South Africa 11.06

Mexico v South Africa (Kick-off 8.00pm). Mark Pougatch presents coverage of the Group A match at Mexico City Stadium, which serves as the opening game of the tournament. This is the fifth overall meeting between these nations, with the most recent also being the opening contest of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, which ended in a 1-1 draw. That was the last time Bafana Bafana competed in a World Cup and, as with their two other tournament appearances in 1998 and 2002, they failed to progress beyond the group stage, whereas El Tricolor finished second in the group to progress to the last-16, where they were beaten 3-1 by Argentina. Last time out in Qatar they failed to progress from a group that also included Argentina, Poland and Saudi Arabia, and their best-ever performances in the 17 previous appearances saw them reach the quarter-final stage when sole hosts in both 1970 and 1986. With analysis from Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Ian Wright, and commentary by Jon Champion and Ally McCoist
