Richard Osman (Host)
Born: November 28, 1970 in Billericay
Best Known For: Pointless.
Early-life: Richard Thomas Osman was born in Billericay on November 28, 1970, but grew up in West Sussex. He was raised by his single mum after his father left home - they didn't see each other for 20 years. Richard studied politics and sociology at Trinity College, Cambridge, where his future Pointless colleague Alexander Armstrong was reading English literature. He claims that one of his proudest moments came when his mum and grandfather watched his graduation.
Career: Osman has worked behind the scenes as an executive producer on a number of TV programmes, including Deal or No Deal, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and 10 O'Clock Live. As the UK creative director of TV production company Endemol, he pitched the quiz Pointless to the BBC. As a way of explaining the rules, he played the co-host during a run-through. He was asked to do the role for real when the show was commissioned. Pointless started on BBC Two in 2009 and was an immediate hit. It quickly made the switch to BBC One. Since being in the spotlight on Pointless, he has made guest appearances on QI, Have I Got News for You and Would I Lie to You? He also guest presented an episode of The One Show alongside Alex Jones.
Quote: "Whenever I turn up to pub quizzes now, I see people going: ‘Urgh, that's the guy who knows everything.'"
Trivia: He is the younger brother of Mat Osman, bassist with Suede, and suffers from nystagmus, a condition that results in uncontrolled movement of the eyes.
Stephen Bailey (Contestant)
Amanda Lamb (Contestant)
Born: July 19, 1972 in Portsmouth
Best Known For: Being the face of Scottish Widows from 1994 to 2005, and presenting A Place in the Sun.
Early-life: Amanda was born in Portsmouth on July 19, 1972. Before she became a famous face on TV, she worked as an estate agent and part-time barmaid. When the opportunity came to become a model, she quickly turned her back on this way of life to pursue a career in the industry. She attracted admiring glances from Scottish Widows. The insurance company installed her as the face of their now-famous advertising campaign - which she continued to do for ten years until 2005.
Career: In 2001, Lamb landed the presenting role on A Place in the Sun. With sunglasses, a winning smile and unparalleled knowledge of the foreign property market, she helped everyday Brits traverse the murky waters of buying a home abroad. In 2006, the graceful presenter put herself through the rigours of The Games to prove she was more than just a softly-spoken TV host. She began to expand her repertoire by co-hosting Market Kitchen on Good Food, and regularly appearing on The Wright Stuff debating the issues of the day. More recently, she began presenting You Deserve This House, a Channel 4 daytime show in which the homes of unsung heroes are secretly refurbished. She also presents Selling Houses with Amanda Lamb. In 2015, she was a contestant on ITV's celebrity sheepdog trials programme Flockstars.
Quote: "I'm quite impatient; I walk into a shop and scan it for what I want. I'm not a rummager."
Trivia: In 2008, Lamb modelled Ortak's autumn jewellery collection.
