Early-life:
Olivia Hallinan was born on January 20, 1984, in Hounslow, west London. The youngest of four sisters, she always dreamed of appearing on stage and got her big break in 1991, starring alongside Cilla Black in a production of Robin, Prince of Sherwood. Her mother runs a drama group in Teddington called All Expressions, and tried to distract Olivia from becoming an actress, but her determination could, apparently, not be shaken.
Career:
Hallinan's first TV appearance came with Das Sprechende Grab, quickly followed by roles in Mole's Christmas, Just William, Julia Jekyll and Harriet Hyde, Holby City and My Family. In total, Olivia has around 20 TV and film credits to her name, and has appeared in over 100 stage productions since she was aged seven. In 2005, she was cast as Kim in Sugar Rush, the controversial lesbian drama adapted from the book by Julie Burchill. Despite such success as an actress, Olivia completed her A-levels and a degree at Manchester University, choosing not to go to drama school. Her recent work has included roles in Lark Rise to Candleford, Moving On and Jack Falls.
Quote:
On Sugar Rush's lesbian kissing scenes: "We had a week to improvise and get to know each other really well beforehand. I have had kissing scenes before, but nothing like that."
Trivia:
Her theatre credits include Precious Little Talent, and Lotty's War.
