Early-life: Born in Bromsgrove on August 22, 1959. As a teen he hoped for a career in academia, then read English at Brasenose College, Oxford University where he discovered a love of both acting and writing. He spent three years touring with The Mikron Theatre Company before proving himself a fine comic actor with early roles in Red Dwarf and Alexei Sayle's Stuff.

Career: Other early TV appearances came in Tumbledown, KYTV, Bottom and The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer. Williams became a famous face thanks to his appearances in The Fast Show, where he played a number of memorable characters. The Canterbury Tales, Gormenghast and Shackleton followed, but it was his role as Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise that made him recognisable worldwide. He has also appeared in successful films like Stardust and Shakespeare in Love and presented several documentary programmes, such as Mark Williams' Big Bangs.

Trivia: Away from showbusiness, he is an avid follower of both Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion football clubs.

Sorcha Cusack (Actor) .. Mrs McCarthy

Born: April 09, 1949 in Dublin

Best Known For: Being part of the Cusack acting dynasty.

Early-life: Sorcha was born in Dublin on April 9, 1949 to actors Cyril and Maureen Cusack. She is the sister of producer Padraig Cusack and fellow actors Paul Cusack, Sinead Cusack and Niamh Cusack, and the half-sister of actor Catherine Cusack. Her early TV roles in the 1970s include appearances in the mini-series Jane Eyre, and Napoleon and Love.

Career: Cusack went on to make guest appearances in a number of TV shows, including Boon, Maigret, The Bill, Playing the Field, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, and Dalziel and Pascoe. She has had recurring roles in Casualty, Coronation Street, Pete Versus Life and Father Brown. She also starred in the TV movie Lost Christmas. Her film credits include Angel (1982), Snatch (2000), and Mrs Brown's Boys D'Movie.

Trivia: Cusack has starred in a number of radio plays, including Juno and the Paycock.

Nancy Carroll (Actor) .. Lady Felicia

Best Known For: Winning an Olivier award for her performance in After the Dance at the Royal National Theatre.

Early-life: Nancy was born in Bristol in 1974. She was three years old when she tap-danced at Brixton Town hall. She went on to study fine art but found the life of an artist too solitary. She ended up graduating from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 1998. Her first professional acting role was in the film An Ideal Husband (1999).

Career: Carroll's stage credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Lady's Not for Burning, As You Like It, Twelfth Night, The Recruiting Officer, The Magistrate and After the Dance, for which she won an Olivier award. On the small screen, she has made guest appearances in Holby City, Midsomer Murders, Dalziel and Pascoe, and Silent Witness. More recently, she played Lady Felicia Montague in the BBC daytime drama Father Brown. On film, she has also starred in Iris (2001).

Best Known For: The Day of the Triffids.

Early-life: Born March 15, 1949, in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, but brought up in Bradford. On leaving school, he realised "acting was the only thing I did well," so moved to London at the age of 17. He enrolled at the Drama Centre, and following graduation, began landing roles on stage. His first professional job was playing a trio of characters in Hamlet at the Citizens Theatre Company in Glasgow.

Career: Further theatre work followed, until TV and films beckoned. Duttine's early small screen appearances came in Softly Softly, Z Cars, A Pin to See the Peepshow and The Nine Tailors. In 1977, he featured in two Coronation Street episodes and the acclaimed Spend Spend Spend. Bigger parts came in Jesus of Nazareth and The Mallens, before To Serve Them All My Days made him a star on both sides of the Atlantic. The Day of the Triffids, A Woman of Substance and Lame Ducks were also hits. Since then he's appeared in Ain't Misbehavin', Touching Evil, Out of the Blue, The Jury and Jane Hall's Big Bad Bus Ride. His recent work includes Heartbeat, Doc Martin, and The Paradise.
