Withdrawn, mute 10-year-old Philip is ignored by his parents and goes off to explore Dartmoor alone, where he meets a retired colonel who shares his knowledge of Devon's wildlife. John Mills (Actor) .. The Moorman
Born: February 22, 1908 in Norfolk
Best Known For: A distinguished film and TV career.
Early-life: Born Lewis Ernest Watts Mills at the Watts Naval School in North Elmham, Norfolk on February 22, 1908. His father was a teacher and his mother worked as a theatre box-office manager. John trained as a dancer in London at Zelia Raye's Dancing School and began appearing as a chorus boy in revues on the London stage.
Career: Mills made his film debut in The Midshipmaid (1932) and went on to appear in a number of films, including Goodbye, Mr Chips (1939), before he enlisted in the Royal Engineers at the start of the Second World War. His war was cut short in 1942 by a stomach ulcer. He quickly returned to acting and went on to star in a number of acclaimed films in a career that spanned 70 years. Notable works included Great Expectations (1946), Scott of the Antarctic (1948), The Colditz Story (1954), Ice Cold in Alex (1958), Tunes of Glory (1960), Swiss Family Robinson (1960), Oh! What a Lovely War (1969), Ryan's Daughter (1970), Young Winston (1972), Gandhi (1982) and Hamlet (1996). Among his roles on TV, he starred in Quatermass, Young at Heart, A Woman of Substance and Martin Chuzzlewit. He also appeared in a number of productions on Broadway. He was knighted in 1976. He died on April 23, 2005, at the age of 97.

Trivia: Father of actors Juliet and Haley Mills. Won an Academy Award for Ryan's Daughter. He portrayed a military character, usually an officer, in a number of films.

Best Known For: At Home with the Braithwaites and her 1950s movie roles.
Early-life: Sylvia Syms was born on January 6, 1934, in London. Not to be confused with the Broadway singer of the same name, this Sylvia Syms was an evacuee and was educated at various convent schools and a grammar school. She honed her acting craft at Rada where she received The Gerald Lawrence Scholarship and an HM Tenants Award.
Career: Syms' first film role came in 1953's It Happens Every Thursday. Three years later, her big break came in My Teenage Daughter. She was a highly popular star for the next 15 years thanks to such movies as Ice-Cold in Alex, Expresso Bongo, Victim, and The Quare Fellow, featuring arguably her best performance. She was also nominated for a Bafta for The Tamarind Seed in 1974. Since then, her most memorable work has largely been on TV, although she did have a small role in 1989's Shirley Valentine. She had a regular role in Peak Practice in the mid-1990s and became a familiar face again thanks to At Home with the Braithwaites.

Born: October 10, 1956 in Kaduna, Nigeria
Best Known For: Being a Bond girl.
Early-life: Fiona Elizabeth Fullerton was born in Kaduna, Nigeria, on October 10, 1956. She made her acting debut in the 1969 film Run Wild, Run Free, and followed this up with parts in Nicholas and Alexandra in 1971 and as the title character a year later in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
Career: Fullerton went on to enjoy an acting career for more than 30 years on the stage, TV and big screen. On TV, she starred in Angels, The Charmer, Hold the Dream, and To Be the Best, and on the stage she starred in a number of productions, including opposite Richard Harris in West End musical Camelot. In films, she is best remembered for playing Bond girl Pola Ivanova in A View to a Kill alongside Roger Moore. She left the acting profession in 1995 and embarked on a new career as a property guru. She now writes property features for a number of publications. In 2013, she was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.

Trivia: Fullerton was the international face of Max Factor for two years.
