Best Known For: The Man from UNCLE and NCIS.
Early-life: David Keith McCallum Jr was born in Glasgow on September 19, 1933. He had an older brother called Iain. Both their parents were professional musicians. David was expected to follow in their footsteps; he was a talented oboe player. The family moved to London when he was 10 after his father took a job with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. David began performing with the BBC radio repertory company in 1946 and later studied at the Royal College of Music, but left to attend Rada.
Career: McCallum became an assistant stage manager, but National Service interrupted his career. He made his film debut in 1957's These Dangerous Years, and appeared in numerous British movies before moving to Hollywood in the early 1960s. He landed roles in Billy Budd and The Great Escape but it was his performance as Illya Kuryakin in The Man from UNCLE that made him a household name in 1964. The series ran until 1968, and a spin-off TV movie was made in 1983. He also released four albums in the 1960s. Other major projects include Colditz, The Invisible Man, Sapphire and Steel, Mother Love, Hear My Song, and Cluedo. Since 2003, he has starred in popular American drama NCIS, playing forensics expert Dr Donald 'Ducky' Mallard.

Robert Vaughn (Actor) .. Napolean Solo
Born: November 22, 1932 in New York
Best Known For: The Man from UNCLE.
Early-life: Robert Francis Vaughn was born on November 22, 1932, in New York. His father, Walter, was a radio actor, and his mother, Marcella, was a theatre star. He was raised by his grandparents in Minneapolis and originally wanted to be a journalist, but dropped out of his course at the University of Minnesota after a year. Vaughn moved to Los Angeles to study drama instead at State College, where he also earned his Masters degree. After becoming famous, he gained a PhD in Communications.
Career: In 1956, Vaughn was signed by Burt Lancaster's production company, but was drafted into the army shortly afterwards. On his return to Hollywood, he spent the next few years playing small roles in movies and TV series such as The Ten Commandments and Gunsmoke. In 1960 he received an Oscar nomination for The Young Philadelphians and was one of The Magnificent Seven. TV show The Lieutenant followed, and he became a major global star thanks to The Man from UNCLE in 1964. Vaughn has also starred in Bullitt, The Towering Inferno, Battle Beyond the Stars, and SOB, and continues to regularly crop up on the big and small screens. He starred in as con-artist Albert Stroller in the BBC drama Hustle between 2004 and 2012, before shifting his attention to Coronation Street to appear as rich American Milton, the love interest of Sylvia Goodwin.

Early-life: Russell was born in 1951 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the son of Louise Julia (née Crone), a dancer, and Bing Russell, a character actor known as Deputy Clem Foster on Bonanza. Landed a part in the Elvis Presley movie, It Happened at the World's Fair (1963) when he was 10 years old. In 1960, Walt Disney himself signed Russell to a 10-year contract. Once his stint as a child actor ended, he spent the early 1970s playing minor league baseball. In 1979, he gave a classic performance as Elvis Presley in John Carpenter's ABC-TV movie.
Career: He followed with roles in a string of well-received films: Used Cars (1980), Escape from New York (1981), The Thing (1982) and Silkwood (1983). In 1983 he became reacquainted with Goldie Hawn (who appeared with him in The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band (1968). They worked together on Swing Shift and Overboard (1987). During the 1980s, Russell starred in a rash of disappointments: The Best of Times (1986), Big Trouble in Little China (1986) and Winter People (1989), but movies like Tango & Cash (1989), Backdraft (1991) and Tequila Sunrise were big hits. He gave a terrific performance in Tombstone as Wyatt Earp and Stargate. He played against type and had a major hit with Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, and remains a busy character actor.
