Early-life:
Antoine de Caunes was born on December 1, 1953, in Paris. His father Georges was a newsreader and his mother Jacqueline Joubert was an actress, announcer and comedienne. His parents' celebrity status meant he quickly became used to life in the limelight, and it came as no surprise when, after a brief dabble with journalism, he embarked on a TV career. He started out hosting Nulle Part Ailleurs on French channel Canal Plus, a station with a reputation for offbeat programming.
Career:
As well as TV presenting in France, de Caunes has acted in movies such as Pentimento, Les Deux Papas Et La Maman and La Divine Poursuite. He's also directed five movies. De Caunes' first job in the UK was presenting Rapido on BBC Two in 1987. In 1993 he returned to present Eurotrash and then Le Show for Channel 4. He provided the voice of Stuart Little in the French dubbed version of the hit comedy.
