Burt Lancaster (Actor) .. Col Stephen Mackenzie
Born: November 02, 1913 in New York
Best Known For: Being one of the best actors of his generation.
Early-life: Born Burton Stephen Lancaster in New York on November 2, 1913. He joined the circus as an acrobat until a hand injury forced him to quit. He was introduced to acting in the army during the Second World War when he performed with the United Service Organization (USO).
Career: After appearing in a Broadway play, Lancaster attracted the attention of a Hollywood agent, which led to him making his film debut alongside Ava Gardner in The Killers (1946). Lancaster went on to win an Academy Award for Elmer Gantry (1960) and he was also nominated for From Here to Eternity (1953), Birdman of Alcatraz (1962) and Atlantic City (1980). He demonstrated his acrobatic ability in The Crimson Pirate (1952). Other film credits included Apache (1954), The Kentuckian (1955), Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957), and The Unforgiven (1960). In a glittering career, he worked alongside a number of Hollywood icons, including Kirk Douglas, Gary Cooper, Clark Gable, Audrey Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, Paul Newman and Sophia Loren. He died on October 20, 1994, at the age of 80.

Trivia: Lancaster's first TV role was a guest spot on Sesame Street in 1969.
Richard Harris (Actor) .. Dr Jonathan Chamberlain
Born: October 01, 1930 in Limerick City
Best Known For: A distinguished film and stage career.
Early-life: Richard St John Harris was born in Limerick City on October 1, 1930, the youngest of nine children from a middle-class, Roman Catholic family. He was a talented sportsman, representing Munster on several occasions until contracting TB ended his career. Richard went on to study acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He went on to join Joan Littlewood's Theatre Workshop and soon began getting roles in various West End stage productions.
Career: Harris made his film debut in the 1958 British comedy Alive and Kicking. Other roles followed in The Guns of Navarone and Mutiny on the Bounty before his first lead role came in 1963's This Sporting Life. Other movies followed, including The Heroes of Telemark, Major Dundee, Camelot, A Man Called Horse, The Cassandra Crossing and The Wild Geese. He appeared in a number of forgettable productions during the 1980s but returned to form in the 1990s with The Field, Patriot Games and Unforgiven. His later films included Gladiator and two Harry Potter films. He died in London on October 25, 2002, at the age of 72, following a battle with Hodgkin's disease.

Trivia: Had three children with first wife Elizabeth Rees. A life-size sculpture of him as an 18-year-old squash player was unveiled by Russell Crowe in Kilkee, Co Clare, where Harris won a local cup four times in a row between 1948 and 1951.
Martin Sheen (Actor) .. Robby Navarro
Born: August 03, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio
Best Known For: Being the patriarch of an acting family.
Early-life: Ramón Gerardo Antonio Estévez was born on August 3, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio. He's the seventh of 10 children from a poor, but close-knit, Catholic family. His Irish mother died when he was 11. He deliberately failed his college exams to pursue an acting career, much to his Spanish father's dismay. At 18, Sheen borrowed money from a priest to move to Manhattan, where he found employment as a curtain puller and prop man. He adopted his current name to avoid being typecast.
Career: Sheen toured Europe with the Living Theatre group in 1961 and starred on Broadway before moving to Hollywood. His big break came in Terrence Malick's 1973 cult classic Badlands. He had a heart attack while filming 1979's Apocalypse Now, and later became a passionate campaigner on human rights issues. He's since featured in projects such as Gandhi, miniseries Kennedy, Wall Street (alongside son Charlie) and Catch Me If You Can. Sheen starred as a White House aide in romantic comedy The American President, which led to him being cast as the US leader in acclaimed TV drama The West Wing. He had a small but eye-catching part in Oscar-laden cop movie The Departed. He has also starred in Bobby and The Way, both directed by his son Emilio Estevez. He played Ben Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012).

Trivia: Has played American presidents four times; Jed Bartlett on The West Wing (1999), in the TV movie Medusa's Child (1997), as John F. Kennedy in the miniseries Kennedy (1983), and as the 'future' president (in a premonition) Greg Stilson in The Dead Zone (1983).
Sophia Loren (Actor) .. Jennifer Rispoli Chamberlain
Born: September 20, 1934 in Rome
Best Known For: Bringing Italian glamour to Hollywood.
Early-life: Born Sofia Villani Scicolone on September 20, 1934, in Rome. Her father refused to marry her mother, who had once won an all-Italy Greta Garbo lookalike contest, even though they went on to have another child together. At the age of 14, she entered a beauty contest and although she didn't win, it brought her to the attention of her future husband, producer Carlo Ponti, who encouraged her to take acting lessons. With a new stage name, she was soon in demand as an extra, graduating to leading roles with the 1953 movie Aida.
Career: Loren became a huge star in Italy, and also began making waves in Hollwyood in movies such as The Pride and the Passion and Houseboat. In 1960, her performance in Two Women made her the first person to win a Best Actress Oscar for a non-English speaking role, and her success continued throughout the decade as she became one of the biggest movie stars in the world. After becoming a mother in 1969, she scaled back on her film work, although in 1980 she did play herself and her mother in the TV film Sophia Loren: My Story. More recently, she's appeared in the likes of Pret a Porter, Grumpier Old Men and Nine.

Ava Gardner (Actor) .. Nicole Dressler
Born: December 24, 1922 in North Carolina
Best Known For: Her striking beauty.
Early-life: Ava Lavinia Gardner was born on December 24, 1922, in North Carolina. She was the youngest of seven children. Her path into the movie industry began when her picture in the window of her brother-in-law's New York photo studio attracted the attention of MGM.
Career: After starring in a number of minor roles for MGM, Gardner received her big break in 1946 when she was loaned to Universal to star in The Killers, which starred Burt Lancaster in his film debut. The film was a big success and received a number of Academy Award nominations. Gardner went on to work with a number of big-name directors, including John Ford in Mogambo (1953) and George Cukor in Bhowani Junction (1956). Other notable films included Mayerling (1968), Earthquake (1974), The Cassandra Crossing (1976) and The Blue Bird (1976). Toward the end of her career, she primarily worked on TV, notably in Knots Landing, and The Long Hot Summer. Gardner died of pneumonia on January 25, 1990 at the age of 67 in London, a place she had called home since 1968.
Quote: (On her first screen test): 'There wasn't a thing that I could do. I couldn't act - I was the first to be eliminated in high school plays. I had no training whatsoever. I was just a pretty little girl. But I loved the idea, because I loved movies.'
Trivia: Gardner made headlines in 1951 when she married singer Frank Sinatra. It was controversial at the time because Sinatra had left his wife to be with her. The marriage lasted six years but they remained good friends.
