Early-life: Born Cherilyn Sarkisian LaPiere on May 20, 1946, in El Centro, California. Her father was Armenian, her mother part Cherokee. Her sister, Georganne, was once married to Reservoir Dogs star Michael Madsen. During her teens, Cher worked as a backing singer to help finance acting studies, during which she met producer Phil Spector. She fell in love with Sonny Bono, Spector's studio assistant and PR man, prompting them to record together as Caesar and Cleo.
Career: As Sonny and Cher, the duo became pop icons and had their own TV show. She also maintained a solo career, including singles Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves, and Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down). After divorcing Sonny she concentrated on movies. In 1987, after acclaimed performances in Silkwood, Mask, The Witches of Eastwick, and Suspect, she won a Best Actress Oscar for Moonstruck. Cher has continued to enjoy a successful recording career and continues to act in such movies as Tea with Mussolini, Stuck On You and Burlesque.

Born: May 09, 1954 in Houston, Texas
Best Known For: A string of movies.
Early-life: Dennis William Quaid was born in Houston, Texas, on April 9, 1954. His mother was an estate agent, his father an electrician who was related to Western star Gene Autry. Dennis's older brother, Randy, is also an actor. They have a half-sibling called Buddy. Dennis studied acting at university, but dropped out so he could begin his career after seeing Randy's success in the early 1970s.
Career: After an initial struggle to find work, Quaid had a number of small roles on TV and in film before enjoying success with 1979's Breaking Away. He co-starred with Randy, as well as the Keach brothers and the Carradines, in the Western The Long Riders a year later. Quaid gained great reviews for the movie The Right Stuff in 1983, the same year he made the disastrous Jaws 3-D. The late-1980s brought him a series of box-office hits, such as Enemy Mine (1985), The Big Easy (1986), Innerspace (1987), Suspect (1987) and DOA (1988). Movies since then include Great Balls of Fire (1989), Wyatt Earp (1994), Traffic (2000) and Far from Heaven (2002), for which he won a clutch of awards. More recent offerings include GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra (2009), Pandorum (2009) and the remake of Footloose (2011). He starred in short-lived period drama Vegas, which ran for one season before being cancelled.

Best Known For: Schindler's List and Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace
Early-life: William John Neeson was born on June 7, 1952, in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. He made his acting debut at 11 in a school play. He was a good teenage amateur boxer, winning the Irish Youth Championship, but quit after blacking out following a fight. Neeson later enrolled at St Mary's Teaching College in Belfast, but became interested in acting on joining the Belfast Lyric Players' Theatre. He made ends meet with various odd jobs, including forklift operator, truck driver and assistant architect, before stardom beckoned.
Career: Neeson's professional debut was on stage in The Risen People. He was spotted in a play at Dublin's Abbey Theatre by director John Boorman, who cast him in movie Excalibur in 1981. He made a name for himself in Krull, A Woman of Substance, Ellis Island and The Mission. Other leading roles came in Suspect, The Dead Pool and The Big Man. However, he didn't become a major star until Schindler's List in 1993. Since then he's featured in Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace, Gangs of New York, Love Actually, Kinsey and the brilliant action film Taken. He was also seen in the big-screen version of The A Team and has several blockbusters in the pipeline.

Trivia: Dated a string of famous women, including Julia Roberts, Brooke Shields, Barbra Streisand, Sinead O'Connor and Helen Mirren. Married actress Natasha Richardson, mother of his sons Micheal and Daniel. She died in a skiing accident in 2009.
