Clint Eastwood (Actor) .. Frank Horrigan
Born: May 31, 1930 in San Francisco, California
Best Known For: Making our day.
Early-life: Clinton Eastwood Jr was born on May 31, 1930, in San Francisco. His family drifted as his father looked for work during the Depression. Clint became a loner with few friends and immersed himself in listening to jazz. He taught himself to play the piano, and performed in a bar as a teenager. After several dead-end jobs, he was drafted into the US Army, where he met David Janssen, who inspired him to become an actor.
Career: Clint was signed by Universal Studios, but was dropped after making his debut in 1955's Revenge of the Creature - however, TV series Rawhide made him a star. His three spaghetti Westerns for Sergio Leone proved his worth on the big screen. Since then, he's become a movie icon thanks to hit films such as Dirty Harry, Every Which Way But Loose, and In the Line of Fire. He's also an acclaimed director, making his debut with 1971's Play Misty for Me, and winning Oscars for Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby. His most recent projects are Gran Torino, Invictus, Hereafter, and J Edgar. Even though he is into his ninth decade, he still continues to work on major projects.
Quote: "The most gentle people in the world are macho males, people who are confident in their masculinity and have a feeling of well-being in themselves."
Trivia: In 1986, Clint was elected for a two-year term as mayor of his adopted home town, Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
John Malkovich (Actor) .. Mitch Leary
Best Known For: His intense stare.
Early-life: John Gavin Malkovich was born on December 9, 1953, in Illinois. His father, Daniel, was a conservation director and publisher of Outdoor Illinois magazine; his mother, Joe Anne, owned local newspaper the Benton Evening News. He has four siblings. Malkovich became hooked on acting at school, and after majoring in theatre at university, joined Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company, which had recently been formed by his friend, Gary Sinise.
Career: In 1980 Malkovich moved to New York to further his career, and won great acclaim in 1984 for his performance opposite Dustin Hoffman in Death of a Salesman. Early films include Places in the Heart, The Killing Fields and Empire of the Sun, but it was 1988's Dangerous Liaisons that made him a star. Further plaudits came for Of Mice and Men and In the Line of Fire. He played a version of himself in Being John Malkovich. He continues to appear on both stage and screen in a variety of projects, including blockbuster hits RED and its sequel, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Quote: "I still don't know if I made the right decision when I went into acting. I have driven school buses, sold egg rolls and painted houses, and I have often wondered what my life would have been like if I hadn't gone into acting. Mind you, it's a great life."
Trivia: In June, an elderly man tripped on a Toronto street and slashed his neck on some scaffolding. Malkovich saved his life by applying pressue to the wound until he could receive medical help.
Rene Russo (Actor) .. Lilly Raines
Born: February 17, 1954 in Burbank, California
Best Known For: Playing Mel Gibson's screen lover in Lethal Weapon 3 and 4.
Early-life: Rene Marie Russo was born on February 17, 1954, in Burbank, California. Her father left the family when Rene was two, leaving her mother, Shirley, to raise her and her sister Toni alone. She studied at Burroughs High School with future actor and director Ron Howard. Rene dropped out of school early and got a job at a movie theatre so she could see free films. She also worked as a restaurant hostess, at Disneyland and at an eyeglass factory.
Career: In 1972, 17-year-old Rene was at a Rolling Stones gig when she was approached by a modelling scout. This encounter led to her employment at Ford Modeling Agency, and she eventually graced the cover of Vogue. After many successful years in the modelling industry, she went on to become an actress, appearing in TV show Sable. However, it was her performance in the movie Major League in 1989 that made casting agents sit up and take notice. She went on to achieve success with Lethal Weapon 3 and 4, In the Line of Fire, and Ransom (the latter directed by former schoolmate Ron Howard), as well as a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. Her recent work includes Two for the Money, Yours, Mine and Ours, Thor, and Nightcrawler.
