Early-life:
Stefanie Zofya Paul was born on November 2, 1942, in Hollywood, California. Her Polish-American parents divorced when she was young, and her mother remarried. Stefanie developed a love of animals in general and horses in particular, but she also enjoyed performing. She attended school with future Dynasty star Linda Evans, and took ballet lessons with Natalie Wood. When she was still in her teens, Stefanie was given a contract with the film studio Columbia, who set about grooming her for stardom and renamed her Taffy Paul - the stage name didn't stick.
Career:
During the 1960s and early 1970s, Powers starred in a number of films, including Tammy Tell Me True, Experiment in Terror, McLintock!, a remake of Stagecoach, and Herbie Rides Again, as well as several TV series, taking the lead role in The Girl from UNCLE. However, her biggest success came in 1979 when she teamed up with Robert Wagner for detective drama Hart to Hart. The series ran for five years and won Powers two Emmy nominations. The stars later reprised the roles for a series of TV movies. Since then, she has continued to work steadily, appearing regularly on TV and the stage.
