An ex-Pinkerton agency detective is recruited as a gun for hire by a Wyoming rancher to eradicate problems with rustlers and homesteaders. He makes short work of the job, but in the process his chilling ruthlessness causes aggrieved rivals and a politically motivated sheriff to frame him for the murder of a young boy.
