Did You Know..

-

Clint Eastwood (Actor) .. Hogan
Born: May 31, 1930 in San Francisco, California
Best Known For: Making our day.
Early-life: Clinton Eastwood Jr was born on May 31, 1930, in San Francisco. His family drifted as his father looked for work during the Depression. Clint became a loner with few friends and immersed himself in listening to jazz. He taught himself to play the piano, and performed in a bar as a teenager. After several dead-end jobs, he was drafted into the US Army, where he met David Janssen, who inspired him to become an actor.
Career: Clint was signed by Universal Studios, but was dropped after making his debut in 1955's Revenge of the Creature - however, TV series Rawhide made him a star. His three spaghetti Westerns for Sergio Leone proved his worth on the big screen. Since then, he's become a movie icon thanks to hit films such as Dirty Harry, Every Which Way But Loose, and In the Line of Fire. He's also an acclaimed director, making his debut with 1971's Play Misty for Me, and winning Oscars for Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby. His most recent projects are Gran Torino, Invictus, Hereafter, and J Edgar. Even though he is into his ninth decade, he still continues to work on major projects.
Quote: "The most gentle people in the world are macho males, people who are confident in their masculinity and have a feeling of well-being in themselves."
Trivia: In 1986, Clint was elected for a two-year term as mayor of his adopted home town, Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.
Shirley MacLaine (Actor) .. Sister Sara
Born: April 24, 1934 in Richmond, Virginia
Best Known For: Her 1960s heyday.
Early-life: Born Shirley MacLean Beaty in Richmond, Virginia, on April 24, 1934. She's the elder sister of fellow Oscar-winner Warren Beatty. Their father was a psychology professor and estate agent, their mother a drama teacher. Both siblings were known as troublemakers in their early years. MacLaine originally dreamed of becoming a ballerina and never missed a class. However, she realised she'd never become a professional thanks to her bad feet and body shape, so turned to acting.
Career: After graduating from high school, MacLaine moved to New York and within a year was a star after taking over a lead role in The Pajama Game on Broadway. In 1955, she made her film debut in Alfred Hitchcock's The Trouble With Harry. Around the World in 80 Days followed, and in 1958 she received her first Oscar nomination for Some Came Running. Further acting nods came for The Apartment, Irma La Douce and The Turning Point before a win in 1983 for Terms of Endearment. Other notable movies include Being There, Sweet Charity, Steel Magnolias, Postcards from the Edge, Bewitched, In Her Shoes, and acclaimed TV movie Coco Chanel.
Quote: "I'm not unaware of how I'm perceived, I just don't care about it. Unless I really hurt someone's feelings. I care about that."
