Early-life:
Born in Armagh, Northern Ireland on January 1, 1986, the son of a nurse, and a painter and decorator. As a child he was very interested in magic and hoped to become an illusionist. That eventually morphed into a desire to act. After gaining a National Diploma in Performing Arts at Belfast Institute of Further & Higher Education in 2004 he went on to graduate from the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2007.
Career:
Morgan was planning on taking some time off after graduating but, purely for experience, went to an audition for a role in Vernon God Little, the stage adaptation of DCB Pierre's Booker Prize-winning novel - he ended up with the lead role. On stage Morgan also appeared in the Old Vic adaptation of Pedro Almodóvar's All About My Mother and the Young Vic's A Prayer for My Daughter. He featured in a number of minor roles in TV programmes such as The Catherine Tate Show in 2007, and the Doctor Who episode Midnight in 2008, before playing the title role in BBC TV series Merlin.

Trivia:
On the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's sinking, Morgan performed readings from survivor's accounts at Belfast's Waterfront Hall.
