Early-life: Sam Rockwell was born on November 5, 1968, in Daly City, California, the child of two actors. The family moved to New York when he was two. He made his acting debut when he was ten years old, alongside his mother. While still in high school, he got his first big break when he appeared in the independent film Clownhouse (1989). He then had private training at the William Esper Acting Studio. He notched up a string of minor roles while working a string of regular day jobs and performing in plays.
Career: In 1994, a Miller Ice beer commercial finally enabled him to quit his other jobs to concentrate on his acting career, which culminated in him having five movies out by 1996. In 1997 he found himself the star of another critically lauded film, Lawn Dogs. He had larger parts in two of the bigger hit movies to emerge in 1999: The Green Mile and Galaxy Quest, wowing audiences and critics alike. Big-budget films such as Charlie's Angels gave way to more subtle independent films like Welcome to Collinwood and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. More recent roles include Moon, Iron Man 2, Conviction, Cowboys & Aliens, Seven Psychopaths and The Way, Way Back.

Best Known For: American Beauty.
Early-life: Kevin Spacey Fowler was born on July 26, 1959, in South Orange, New Jersey, but was raised in Los Angeles. He's the youngest of three children. His father wrote technical manuals for aircraft; his mother was a secretary. Spacey's bad behaviour led his parents to send him to Northridge Military Academy, but he was expelled for hitting a classmate with a tyre. He later channelled his energies into amateur dramatics and went to school with Mare Winningham and Val Kilmer.
Career: Spacey performed stand-up comedy before Kilmer encouraged him to study acting at the Juilliard School. He dropped out two years later, but soon made his Broadway debut in Henry V. He understudied Harvey Keitel in a production of Hurlyburly for director Mike Nichols. The latter then gave him roles in the movies Heartburn and Working Girl. More theatre work followed, until in 1992 the film Glengarry Glen Ross made him an actor to watch. He's won Oscars for The Usual Suspects and American Beauty. Other acclaimed projects include Se7en and LA Confidential. Spacey also starred in Bobby Darin biopic Beyond the Sea, Superman Returns and The Men Who Stare at Goats. He has been the artistic director of London's Old Vic theatre since 2004.

Early-life: Matthew Charles Berry was born in Bromham, Bedfordshire, on May 2, 1974 to Pauline and Charles. He has an older sister called Johanna. He claims he spent a lot of time visiting London as a child, and knew it was where he wanted to spend his life. Despite this, he studied contemporary art at Nottingham Trent University. He met Noel Fielding through a friend while still at university, and worked at the London Dungeon after graduating.
Career: Berry's first taste of TV was in the late 1990s on video game magazine show Game Over on satellite computer and technology channel .tv. His first prominent TV role was playing Todd Rivers/Dr Lucien Sanchez in the Channel 4 comedy series Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and its spin-off Man to Man with Dean Learner. His other TV credits include The Mighty Boosch, Saxondale, The Peter Serafinowicz Show and The Sarah Silverman Program. He is best known for playing Douglas Reynholm in The IT Crowd. More recently, Berry has starred in Five Daughters, Toast of London and House of Fools. He is also an accomplished musician and has released several albums.

Best Known For: Playing Effy Stonem in Skins.
Early-life: Born Kaya Rose Humphrey on March 13, 1992 in Haywards Heath, West Sussex to Katia Scodelario and Roger Humphrey. Kaya's parents divorced when she was a child and her mother brought her up in London. She subsequently adopted the Scodelario surname.
Career: With no previous acting experience, Scodelario was cast in the first series of teen drama Skins as Effy Stonem. After two seasons where she slowly gained prominence, Scodelario became the lead actress in the third and fourth seasons. She made her film debut with a small part in Moon (2009) and then went on to appear in Clash of the Titans (2010), play Catherine Earnshaw in Wuthering Heights (2011) and play the title character in The Truth About Emanuel (2013). She reprised her role as Effy in 2013 for Skins Fire, which was part of the final series of Skins. During the same year, she played Anna Salter in the Channel 4 mini-series Southcliffe. Since then, Scodelario has played the lead female character Teresa in the Maze Runner films, the lead character of Kelly in Tiger House (2015) and Carina Smyth in Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge (2017).
