Jennifer Saunders (Actor) .. Maureen
Born: July 06, 1958 in Sleaford, Lincolnshire
Best Known For: Absolutely Fabulous.
Early-life: Born Jennifer Jane Saunders on July 6, 1958, in Sleaford, Lincolnshire. Her father was in the RAF and she briefly spent time on the same forces camp as her future comedy partner Dawn French, but the pair never met as children. Instead, they got to know each other while attending London's Central School of Speech and Drama in 1977, where they were both on a teaching training course. They later teamed up with Adrian Edmondson, Rik Mayall, Nigel Planer, Alexei Sayle and Peter Richardson to create the The Comic Strip Presents series.
Career: Appearances in The Young Ones, Girls on Top and Happy Families followed, but it was the sketch show French and Saunders that propelled her to fame. One short skit in the series became the basis for Absolutely Fabulous. The sitcom's phenomenal global success opened new doors, and helped land Jennifer roles in the movies In the Bleak Midwinter, Spice World and Fanny and Elvis. She also voiced a not-so-good fairy godmother in hit animation Shrek 2 and stars in the BBC's Blandings. As well as the film and TV work, she has long been an active participant in the charity Comic Relief, alongside her on-screen partner Dawn French, and regularly takes part in the telethon events. We've also seen her reunited with her old pal in Jam & Jerusalem, which she wrote.
Quote: "It seems you can take a picture on your mobile and it can be on the front page of a celebrity mag the next day. It's a kind of madness."
Trivia: Married fellow Comic Strip star Adrian Edmondson in 1985. They have three daughters - Beattie, Ella and Freya. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 and is now in remission. Her autobiography, Bonkers: My Life in Laughs, was published in 2013.
Cherie Lunghi (Actor) .. Rosemary
Born: April 04, 1952 in London
Best Known For: The Manageress and a series of coffee adverts.
Early-life: Cherie Mary Lunghi was born on April 4, 1952, in Nottingham, the daughter of an Italian and his English wife. She was raised in London by her mother and her aunts after her father returned to Italy. Cherie began acting as a child on radio and in TV and eventually studied at Homerton College, Cambridge. Her acting training came at the Arts Educational School and the Central School of Speech and Drama. She has also been keen on dancing, aerobics, horse-riding, painting and playing the piano from an early age.
Career: Lunghi started out on stage, but made her TV debut in a 1968 episode of the BBC's classic Sherlock Holmes series. She's worked steadily ever since on the small and big screens, cropping up in the likes of Edward & Mrs Simpson, Excalibur, Tales of the Unexpected, The Monocled Mutineer, The Mission, and Ellis Island. However, it was popular footballing drama The Manageress which made her a major TV star in 1989. Since then, Lunghi has appeared in the likes of The Buccaneers, A Question of Guilt, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Jack and Sarah, EastEnders, Cutting It, Midsomer Murders and Casualty 1906. She was a Strictly Come Dancing contestant in 2008.
Quote: "It's intriguing to get your head around people who have evil intent. It's pretty complicated."
Trivia: Lunghi has narrated Who Do You Think You Are?
Emilia Jones (Actor) .. Vikki
Peter Davison (Actor) .. Alan
Born: April 13, 1951 in Streatham, London
Best Known For: Being the fifth Doctor Who.
Early-life: Born Peter Moffett on April 13, 1951, in Streatham, south London. He moved with his three sisters to Surrey when his parents, Sheila and Claude, bought a village store. He had an undistinguished time at Winston Churchill School, but he did enjoy music and drama. After leaving with three O-levels, he considered teaching, but entered the Central School of Speech and Drama after catching the acting bug through amateur performances. To avoid confusion with director Peter Moffatt, he changed his surname to Davison.
Career: Davison's first professional role was in Love's Labour's Lost at Nottingham Playhouse in 1972 and his TV debut came in a 1975 episode of The Tomorrow People. A lean spell followed (during which he spent 18 months working in a tax office in Twickenham), but his big break came in 1978 when he landed the role of Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small. In 1981, he took over from Tom Baker as the fifth Doctor Who, but quit three years later for fear of being typecast. Other career highlights include A Very Peculiar Practice, Campion, At Home with the Braithwaites, The Last Detective, The Complete Guide to Parenting, Distant Shores and Law & Order: UK. Throughout 2010, he starred in the West End production of Legally Blonde, and directed and wrote a spoof documentary called The Five(ish) Doctors to tie in with Doctor Who's 50th anniversary in 2013.
Quote: "You don't ever decide you're old - at least I haven't yet. I'm still quite surprised if I get dragged for a night out somewhere why I'm yawning by half-past-11."
Trivia: He composed the theme tunes for Button Moon and Mixed Blessings. His actress daughter, Georgia Moffett, is married to David Tennant.
Emily Atack (Actor) .. Becky
Mandie Fletcher (Director)
