Best Known For:
Playing Izzy Armstrong in Coronation Street.
Early-life:
Cherylee was born in Morecambe in 1975 to Bill and Coral. She has two older brothers, Lee and Vincent. She performed in school plays and went on to train at the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester. At the age of 23, she was diagnosed with the rare connective tissue disorder Ehlers-Danlos Type III hypermobility type. She has used a wheelchair ever since.
Career:
In 2003, Houston made a guest appearance in Doctors. Other parts followed in Little Britain, Holby City, The Bill, I'm with Stupid, Emmerdale and a recurring role on Doctors. Her big break came in 2010, when she was cast as Izzy Armstrong in Coronation Street, becoming the show's first full-time disabled character.
