Born: October 04, 1967 in San Francisco
Best Known For: The Omen and The Manchurian Candidate.
Early-life: Born Isaac Liev Schreiber on October 4, 1967, in San Francisco, California. His parents - Heather, a painter, and Tell, an actor - moved to Canada when he was just one year old. They divorced when Liev was five and he moved with his mother to New York, where she drove a cab to make ends meet. During this period, they lived as squatters in abandoned buildings. His mum didn't want him watching colour films so he grew up seeing silent and black-and-white movies, becoming particularly fond of Charlie Chaplin's work.
Career: Schreiber began acting at Hampshire College and continued at the Yale University School of Drama. Although he initially wanted to be a playwright, a teacher encouraged him to become an actor. His first TV role came in 1994 when he appeared in the drama Janek: The Silent Betrayal. Liev had several supporting roles in various independent films until his big break as Cotton Weary in the horror film Scream. He featured in the movie's sequels, then appeared in several big-budget productions including The Manchurian Candidate in 2004. Liev made his directorial debut with Everything Is Illuminated, which he also wrote, in 2005. Other film acting credits include The Omen, Defiance, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Salt.
Quote: On his nickname: "It's not easy being 6' 3" and being called Huggy".
Trivia: He received a Tony nomination in 2010 for his role on Broadway in A View From the Bridge.
