Early-life:
Joseph Ellis Pasquale was born in Grays, Essex, on August 20, 1961. His dad, also called Joe, worked in a margarine factory, and his mum was a housewife. As a youngster he always enjoyed performing and being the centre of attention. After leaving school, he took a job in the civil service, before becoming a porter at Smithfield meat market. Joe also did stints in a car plant and on building sites, but it was working as an entertainer in holiday camps at Torquay and Great Yarmouth that helped him develop his comedy style.
Career:
Pasquale started entering TV talent shows, and was a runner-up on New Faces in 1987. By his own admission, offers of work didn't flood in, but his live act developed a following, and videos of his stand-up performances sold well. He began making appearances on TV in specials such as He's Pasquale, I'm Walsh, The Joe Pasquale Show and The Crazy World of Joe Pasquale. In 2004, his career received a boost when he won the fourth series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! Since then he's recorded an Audience with Joe Pasquale for ITV and hosted The Price is Right. The comedian has also written a musical version of the children's series Rentaghost, and appeared in numerous stage productions, including The Producers. In early 2014, he participated with fellow former contestants in the final series of Dancing on Ice.
