Nicholas Lyndhurst (Actor) .. Gary
Born: April 21, 1961 in Emsworth, Hampshire
Best Known For: Playing Del Boy's gangly brother Rodney Trotter.
Early-life: Nicholas Simon Lyndhurst was born on April 21, 1961, in Emsworth, Hampshire. He was raised by his single mum Liz, but has described his father Joe as a "gentle man, very funny, very charming". Nicholas subsequently had little contact with Joe after turning 17. At the age of eight he decided he wanted to be an actor, and at 10 he began training while boarding at the Corona Stage Academy. Appearances in adverts paid for his studies.
Career: Lyndhurst made his TV debut in an adaptation of Heidi in 1974. He followed this with roles in The Prince and the Pauper, and The Tomorrow People. In 1978, Lyndhurst began his transition into more grown-up roles by playing Ronnie Barker's son in Porridge spin-off Going Straight, and classic sitcom Butterflies, but it was Only Fools And Horses that made him a household name when it began in 1981. Since then, he's also starred in The Two of Us, The Piglet Files, David Copperfield, Gulliver's Travels, Goodnight Sweetheart, After You've Gone and Only Fools prequel Rock & Chips. He is now a regular in New Tricks.
Quote: "The idea of achieving fame and fortune didn't cross my mind and I find it terrifying that being famous is the sole objective of so many young people today."
Trivia: He enjoys underwater diving.
Michelle Holmes (Actor) .. Yvonne
Dervla Kirwan (Actor) .. Phoebe
Born: October 24, 1971 in Churchtown, Dublin
Best Known For: Ballykissangel.
Early-life: Dervla Kirwan was born in Churchtown, Dublin, on October 24, 1971. She is the youngest of three sisters. Her father was an insurance executive and her mother a French and English teacher. She was bullied at school and her parents encouraged her to take drama classes to make friends. At 15 she landed her first major role in BBC drama Troubles, and a year later appeared on the London stage in Billy Roche's Wexford Trilogy. She hasn't looked back since.
Career: At the age of 18, she moved to London permanently and numerous stage roles followed. She also appeared in the movie December Bride, but it was playing a teenage temptress in A Time to Dance in 1992 that brought her instant media attention. Since then she has starred in Goodnight Sweetheart and Ballykissangel, which established her as one of British TV's best-loved actresses. She's also won acclaim for her work on The Dark Room, Flint Street Nativity, Eureka Street, The Bombmaker, Hearts and Bones, The Silence, 55 Degrees North, Doctor Who and Injustice.
Quote: "I could have taken the money and gone on running with BallyK. But then, would I have had a career in five years? I have to move on, to show what I am capable of doing."
Trivia: Kirwan married actor Rupert Penry-Jones in 2007.
