Season 2, Episode 3

The manic comedian plays Toby, a minicab driver who celebrates his daughter's seventh birthday by taking her to a medieval theme park with his new girlfriend Clare. Unfortunately for all concerned, Clare's previous lover is hot on their trail, understandably miffed with her for setting fire to his house, and determined to exact a suitably grisly revenge. Best Known For: The Young Ones.
Early-life: Born Richard Michael Mayall on March 7, 1958, in Harlow, Essex. His parents, John and Gillian, were both drama teachers and encouraged him to tread the boards. He made his acting debut in a play by his father when he was seven years old. He attended Manchester University, where he became friends with his future professional partner Adrian Edmondson. They began performing together as 20th Century Coyote at The Comedy Store, before gaining a following thanks to their gigs at The Comic Strip.
Career: Mayall made his small-screen debut in 1981 as the protagonist in Kevin Turvey Investigates, closely followed by TV series A Kick Up the Eighties and small roles in films Eye of the Needle and An American Werewolf in London. He shot to fame a year later when he co-wrote and starred in the BBC sitcom The Young Ones. With partner Adrian Edmondson, Mayall created The Dangerous Brothers for Saturday Live, then reteamed with fellow Young One Nigel Planer for Filthy Rich & Catflap in 1987. The same year, he won huge acclaim and a new fanbase with political satire The New Statesman. Other offerings include the movie Drop Dead Fred, Eat the Rich, Carry On Columbus, Guest House Paradiso, Rik Mayall Presents... and the hugely successful Bottom. In 2013, he starred in Channel 4 sitcom Man Down. He died on June 9, 2014
Quote: 'TV is so bad these days. It's patronising, slight and badly thought-out.'
Trivia: In 1998, Mayall was in a coma for five days following a quad bike accident.
Serena Scott Thomas (Actor)
Lee Evans (Actor)
Born: February 25, 1964 in Bristol
Best Known For: Becoming one of the biggest comedy stars of his generation.
Early-life: Born on February 25, 1964, in Bristol, England, the son of Dave Evans, a Welsh nightclub performer; his mother Shirley is Irish. He has an older brother called Wayne. After a spell as a boxer and two years at Thurrock Art College in Essex, he followed his father into entertainment. Lee moved to Scarborough and had a stint as a drummer in a punk band before turning to comedy. His brand of physical humour has drawn comparisons with Norman Wisdom right from the start of the career, but he claims he is not an inspiration. Evans rose to fame during the 1990s with loud, sweaty, energetic stage performances featuring physical comedy.
Career: Evans rose to fame in the 1990s, and won the 1993 Perrier Comedy Award for his Edinburgh Festival Show. He has gone on to become one of Britain's most celebrated comics. In November 2005, he broke the world record for a solo act performing to the biggest comedy audience. He took his Roadrunner stand-up act on the road in 2011 and played more than 50 dates around the UK. He has also had significant big-screen success, with several British TV vehicles and scene-stealing turns in American hits such as There's Something About Mary and Mousehunt. His low-budget comedy Funny Bones is gaining status as a classic and he has been a hit on the West End stage in several roles.
Quote: On being asked for advice for young comics: 'Breathe! 'Cause if you're still breathing, you've still got a chance! That's the only advice I can offer because as for the rest... it's a nightmare!'
Trivia: Evans is known for sweating a lot during performances. He claims he showers and changes during each intermission and wears every suit just three times - dry cleaners refuse to handle them.
