Woody Harrelson (Actor) .. Charlie
Born: July 23, 1961 in Midland, Texas
Best Known For: His starring role in Cheers and a string of hit movies.
Early-life: Born Woodrick Tracy Harrelson on July 23, 1961, in Midland, Texas, but grew up in Lebanon, Ohio. His father, Charles, has twice been found guilty of committing murder for money - once in 1968, the second time in 1978. He is also believed to have been one of several so-called hobos escorted from the infamous grassy knoll in Dallas immediately after JFK's assassination in 1963. Harrelson gained a degree in theatre arts and English from Hanover College in Indiana before moving to New York.
Career: Harrelson was an understudy for Neil Simon's Biloxi Blues on Broadway and appeared in various small productions before gaining the role of dimwitted barman Woody Boyd in Cheers in 1985. His TV commitments made it difficult for him to gain good movie roles, although he did star in the hit White Men Can't Jump in 1992. When the sitcom finished a year later, he concentrated on films, and has since starred in Indecent Proposal, Natural Born Killers, The People vs Larry Flynt, Welcome to Sarajevo, The Thin Red Line, A Scanner Darkly, No Country for Old Men, The Messenger, Zombieland, 2012 and The Hunger Games movies. In 2014, he starred alongside Matthew McConaughey in HBO crime drama True Detective.
Quote: 'I like crying. And I not only wanna cry with other people, I wanna just split myself down the middle and open my guts and just throw everything out!'
Trivia: Harrelson has had a few brushes with the law.
Wesley Snipes (Actor) .. John
Born: July 31, 1962 in Florida
Best Known For: Killing demons in the Blade trilogy and spending time in jail for failing to file tax returns.
Early-life: Wesley Trent Snipes was born in Orlando, Florida, on July 31, 1962, but grew up in the South Bronx in New York, where early on he decided he wanted to be an actor. He attended the High School for the Performing Arts (popularised in 1980s classic film and TV series Fame), but then his mother moved to Florida. After graduating from high school he appeared in local dinner theatres and regional productions. An agent saw him in a competition and got him his first movie role alongside Goldie Hawn in Wildcats (1986).
Career: Athletic roles in Wildcats gave way to tough guy parts in New Jack City (1991), and to the action hero in Passenger 57 (1992). He went on to star alongside some of Hollywood's most famous leading men, all of whom hand-picked him for the roles. He further came to audiences' attentions in White Men Can't Jump (1992), Demolition Man (1993), Rising Sun (1993) and One Night Stand (1997), before landing the lead role in Blade (1998). Two more Blade films were made. He made a number of straight-to-DVD movies before returning to form in Brooklyn's Finest (2010). In 2008, Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison for failing to file federal income tax returns. After his conviction was upheld after an appeal, Snipes reported to federal prison in December 2010. He was released in April 2013. He returned to the big screen in 2014 in The Expendables 3.
Quote: 'I never really planned on making action films. It just kind of happened. I've focused primarily on acting and developing characters, but that has blossomed into a whole new venue.'
Trivia: Snipes' New York apartment was destroyed by the collapse of the World Trade Center's Twin Towers in the September 11 attacks. He was not in New York at the time.
Jennifer Lopez (Actor) .. Grace Santiago
Born: July 24, 1969 in New York
Best Known For: Her acting and singing careers - not to mention her curvaceous figure.
Early-life: Born on July 24, 1969, in The Bronx, New York. Her parents are from Puerto Rico. Her mother was a teacher, her father was a computer expert. She is the middle of three sisters. The eldest, Leslie, is an opera-singing housewife, the youngest, Lynda, is a TV presenter. Lopez took singing and dancing lessons from the age of five. After finishing high school, she worked in a lawyer's office while trying to get her show business career off the ground.
Career: Lopez had small roles in films My Little Girl and Lambada before her big break came with a two-year stint in TV comedy series In Living Color. She toured as a dancer with Janet Jackson and appeared in several other TV shows. She then starred on the big screen in My Family, Money Train, Jack, and Blood and Wine. Playing the title role in 1997's Selena proved Lopez was more than just a pretty face, while Out of Sight and The Wedding Planner turned her into box-office gold. Movies since include Maid in Manhattan, Monster-in-Law and the much-maligned Gigli. After a three-year break from movies, she returned in 2010 romantic comedy The Back-Up Plan. She has been a judge on several American Idol series and is a hugely successful recording artist with numerous hit albums, singles and tours to her name.
Quote: 'I'm trying to get the focus back on what I do as an artist, not what I do at home.'
Trivia: She does not drink alcohol.
