Olivia Newton-John (Actor)
Born: September 26, 1948 in Cambridge
Best Known For: Playing Sandy in Grease.
Early-life: Olivia Newton-John was born in Cambridge on September 26, 1948 to a German mother and Welsh father. Newton-John was five when her family moved to Australia after her father got a job as a lecturer in German at Melbourne University. Despite coming from an academic background, she enjoyed singing from an early age. After appearing at her brother-in-law's bar, she made her TV debut in showbiz spectacular Funny Things Happen Down Under in 1965, the same year she returned to England to develop her career.
Career: Newton-John released her first single in 1965, the long-forgotten Till You Say You'll Be Mine. Despite being homesick, she continued to perform live, including with her friend Pat Carroll. A brief spell in the band Toomorrow was followed by a regular stint on Cliff Richard's TV show. In 1974 she represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest. A year later, she moved to the US, where she was an instant hit. Grease made her an international star in 1978, with the album alone selling more than 28 million copies worldwide, but her acting career has been less successful since. She continues to record and perform live across the globe and is a committed environmental activist. Since 1966, Newton-John has sold 100 million records, the same number as Paul McCartney and Phil Collins. More recently, she re-created her Physical video in Glee with Jane Lynch.
Quote: "There's a rumour going around that I'm Miss Goody-two-shoes from Australia. Well, that's a laugh. I'm really Miss Goody-two-shoes from England."
Trivia: She began a residency at the Flamingo Las Vegas in 2014.

He won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor (Musical), among a handful of other awards, for this performance. This resulted in him getting a number of opportunities in film and he went on to play the lead role in the comedy Balls Of Fury (2007). His other film credits include Good Luck Chuck (2007), Fanboys (2009) and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016).
