Career: Throughout the early 1990s, Bell had a number of guest spots on high-profile shows such as Friends and The Naked Truth, but she was made to wait until 1996 for her first big break. Playing the tough, career-oriented Sarah MacKenzie in JAG gave Bell her first leading role. She describes herself as a tomboy in real life, so it's only fitting that she made her name by playing such a hard-nosed army officer. Her next major role would once again centre on life in the forces, but this time she'd see it from the opposite point of view: in Army Wives she plays Denise Sherwood, who's married to a senior officer. Bell's character is a nurse who has put her life on hold to accommodate her husband, and is now desperate to get something back. This show is Sex and the City on an army base and it gives an intriguing insight into life in this claustrophobic environment. In recent years Bell has also taken the lead role in Hallmark's The Good Witch saga, playing the title role in 2008, and reprising it in a number of sequels.
