Martin Sheen (Actor) .. Pike
Born: August 03, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio
Best Known For: Being the patriarch of an acting family.
Early-life: Ramón Gerardo Antonio Estévez was born on August 3, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio. He's the seventh of 10 children from a poor, but close-knit, Catholic family. His Irish mother died when he was 11. He deliberately failed his college exams to pursue an acting career, much to his Spanish father's dismay. At 18, Sheen borrowed money from a priest to move to Manhattan, where he found employment as a curtain puller and prop man. He adopted his current name to avoid being typecast.
Career: Sheen toured Europe with the Living Theatre group in 1961 and starred on Broadway before moving to Hollywood. His big break came in Terrence Malick's 1973 cult classic Badlands. He had a heart attack while filming 1979's Apocalypse Now, and later became a passionate campaigner on human rights issues. He's since featured in projects such as Gandhi, miniseries Kennedy, Wall Street (alongside son Charlie) and Catch Me If You Can. Sheen starred as a White House aide in romantic comedy The American President, which led to him being cast as the US leader in acclaimed TV drama The West Wing. He had a small but eye-catching part in Oscar-laden cop movie The Departed. He has also starred in Bobby and The Way, both directed by his son Emilio Estevez. He played Ben Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012).
Quote: On his son Charlie's wild ways: 'I absolutely believe that he'll come through it'.
Trivia: Has played American presidents four times; Jed Bartlett on The West Wing (1999), in the TV movie Medusa's Child (1997), as John F. Kennedy in the miniseries Kennedy (1983), and as the 'future' president (in a premonition) Greg Stilson in The Dead Zone (1983).
Harvey Keitel (Actor) .. Henry
Born: May 13, 1939 in New York
Best Known For: Playing Mr White in Reservoir Dogs
Early-life: Harvey Johannes Keitel was born in Brooklyn, New York, on May 13, 1939 to Harry and Miriam, Jewish immigrants from Poland and Romania respectively. He grew up in the Brighton Beach area of the city, with brother Jerry and sister Renee. At the age of 16, he joined the US Marines and saw service in Lebanon among other places. Upon leaving the forces, he returned to New York and became a court reporter, before taking up acting.
Career: After landing roles in off-Broadway productions, Keitel met Martin Scorsese, an up-and-coming filmmaker, who cast him in his student project before handing him the lead in Mean Streets (1973). Despite an amazing performance, it was co-star Robert De Niro who profited most. Keitel's career took something of a nosedive toward the end of the 1970s, but received a shot in the arm in 1992 thanks to the films Bad Lieutenant and Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs. This made him hot property, with Keitel going on to star in films such as The Piano (1993), Cop Land (1997), From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) and National Treasure (2004) and its 2007 sequel. He also appeared in the short-lived US version of Life On Mars. More recently, he has starred in Inglourious Basterds (2009), Little Fockers (2010), Moonrise Kingdom (2012) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014).
Quote: 'Fear is a marker I need to rise above, otherwise I would drown in my fear of myself.'
Trivia: He once worked in a women's shoe store.
Sam Waterston (Actor) .. White Bull
Born: November 15, 1940 in Cambridge, Massachusetts
Best Known For: Playing Jack McCoy in Law & Order.
Early-life: Samuel Atkinson Waterston was born on November 15, 1940, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He caught the acting bug at the age of seven, attended Groton Prep School and entered Yale University on a scholarship in 1958. Sam studied French and history, and graduated with a BA in 1962. He honed his craft at the American Actors Workshop in Paris. After leaving Yale, he spent some months at the Clinton Playhouse.
Career: Waterston made his showbiz debut in 1965 appearing in The Plastic Dome of Norma Jean and Dr Kildare. A string of projects followed, including Generation, Three, The Glass Menagerie, The Great Gatsby, Capricorn One, Eagle's Wing and Heaven's Gate. He received an Oscar-nomination as journalist Sydney Schanberg in acclaimed 1984 movie The Killing Fields. He's also appeared in Hannah and Her Sisters, September, Serial Mom and The Newsroom. Between 1994 and 2010, he played Jack McCoy in 333 episodes of Law & Order, a role he reprised for the two spin-off shows, Special Victims Unit and Trial By Jury, as well as Homicide: Life on the Street.
