Early-life: Ewan Gordon McGregor was born on March 31, 1971, in Perth, Scotland, and was raised in nearby Crieff. He's the son of two teachers and the nephew of actor Denis Lawson. His brother is a former RAF pilot. His parents encouraged him to leave school at 16 to do whatever made him happy. Inspired by his uncle, he studied drama for a year at Kirkcaldy in Fife, before joining London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Shortly before graduating, he landed a role in Dennis Potter's 1993 series Lipstick on Your Collar.
Career: Shallow Grave kick-started McGregor's film career in 1994, then Trainspotting made his name on both sides of the Atlantic two years later. He went on to make Brassed Off, A Life Less Ordinary, Little Voice and the three Star Wars prequels. He formed production company Natural Nylon with friends Jonny Lee Miller, Sean Pertwee, Jude Law and Sadie Frost, but that has since disbanded. Other movies include Moulin Rouge!, Black Hawk Down, Young Adam, Big Fish, Deception, Angels & Demons, The Ghost and Mortdecai. The prolific actor always has a number of films in the pipeline, and occasionally tackles theatre work.
Quote: "Film-making is like a series of problems that need to be solved. And the excitement, the adrenaline that you get from making a small film is that you all have to pull together. I love that."

After finishing her studies, Renee worked as a waitress to make ends meet, before landing a role in a beer commercial.

She received another nomination the following year for her performance in Chicago, before picking up the Best Supporting actress award in 2004 for her role in Cold Mountain. Her other notable film credits include Me Myself and Irene, Appaloosa and Cinderella Man. More recently, she has appeared in Miss Potter, Bee Movie, Monsters vs Aliens and My Own Love Song.

The youngest of four children, David started taking piano lessons at the age of eight and yearned to become a concert pianist. He also did well academically and attended the prestigious Yale University, where he decided he would rather be an actor rather than a musician. In 1981, David graduated with a degree in English and Theatre Arts and moved to New York to continue acting studies, supporting himself by working as a tie salesman.
Career: David worked steadily on the stage throughout the 1980s and made his film debut in Bright Lights, Big City in 1988. He was later offered a role in Little Man Tate by former Yale classmate Jodie Foster, who remembered him from a student play. In 1992, he was in short-lived sitcom The Powers That Be and caught the eye of Frasier's creators, who noticed his resemblance to Kelsey Grammer and wrote the role of Niles especially for him. His performance in the long-running sitcom earned him four Emmy awards and a reported salary of $1million per episode for the last few seasons. Frasier came to an end in 2003 and David has since been seen in the film Down With Love and in various stage productions on Broadway and the West End. He won a Tony Award in 2007 for his performance in Kander and Ebb musical Curtains.
