Early-life: Thomas Alan Smith Rosenthal was born in London on January 14, 1988, the son of TV producer Christine Smith and sports presenter Jim Rosenthal.

Career: In 2011, Rosenthal began starring in Channel 4 comedy Friday Night Dinner alongside Simon Bird. His other TV credits include Plebs, Breathless and Broadchurch. When he is not acting, he is performing stand-up.

Best Known For: Playing Grumio in the sitcom Plebs.

Early-life: Ryan Oliver Sampson was born in Rotherham on November 28, 1985. He attended Wales High School in Rotherham, where he appeared in school productions. He made his TV debut in 2003 in Wire in the Blood. Roles followed in the TV movie In Denial of Murder, Heartbeat and Holby City.

Career: Sampson's first break came in 2007 when he starred alongside Nicholas Lyndhurst, Celia Imrie and Dani Harmer in BBC sitcom After You're Gone. He has also made guest appearances in Doctor Who, Fresh Meat and Dates. He has had recurring roles in The Work Experience, Up the Women and Undercover. He is perhaps best known for playing Grumio in the ITV sitcom Plebs.

Early-life: Born Sarah-Doon Mackichan in London in August 1962. She went on to study at Manchester University's Department of Drama. She made her TV debut in the 1986 sketch comedy Five Alive.

Career: Specialising in comedy roles, Mackichan has appeared in Brass Eye, Knowing Me, Knowing You… with Alan Partridge, The Comic Strip Presents…, and Nathan Barley. She is best known for starring in Channel 4 sketch series Smack the Pony alongside Fiona Allen and Sally Phillips. On the stage, she has appeared in Joe Orton's farce Loot, Boeing Boeing, and Jumpy. She has also featured in a number of shows on Radio 4, including Doon Your Way, and The Nick Revell Show. More recently, she has starred in Plebs, Toast of London, and Psychobitches.

Early-life: Born in Kent in 1967, Neil Stuke earned a crust working in a clothes shop and as a second-hand car dealer. Eventually put aside dreams of being a drummer to become an actor. Finally hit the big time when he landed a part in Stephen Poliakoff's acclaimed 1993 movie Century.

Career: Stuke appeared in popular dramas Poirot, Between the Lines, Heartbeat and A Touch of Frost. He also featured in Dennis Potter's final TV projects Karaoke and Cold Lazarus. He hit the big time when he took over the role of Matthew, the agoraphobic liar in cult sitcom Game On. Hit projects Sliding Doors, Murder in Mind, Casualty, Grafters and Drop the Dead Donkey also boosted his profile. Has rarely been out of work in the past few years. He appeared on stage in Blue/Orange and Entertaining Mr Sloane. Other projects have included School For Seduction, Faith, Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky, The Afternoon Play, The Virgin Queen and Chopratown. His recent work includes playing Chris Jackson in TV sitcom Reggie Perrin, Max in Monday Monday, and Billy Lamb in BBC legal drama Silk.

Early-life: James Edward Fleet was born in Bilston, Staffordshire, on March 11, 1954 to a Scottish mother, Christine, and an English father, Jim. He moved to a town near Aberdeen at the age of 10 with his mother when his dad died. He studied engineering at university before training as an actor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He began his career in the Royal Shakespeare Company, appearing in several plays in the early 1980s.

Career: Fleet is best known for playing the bumbling Tom in the 1984 romantic comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral, and the dim-witted Hugo Horton in the sitcom The Vicar of Dibley. He had a stint in Coronation Street in 2010 and his other TV credits include roles in Midsomer Murders, Being Human, Death Comes to Pemberley and Bad Education. On the big screen, he has appeared in Sense and Sensibility (1995), The Phantom of the Opera (2004) and Charlotte Gray (2001).
