Sandra Bullock (Actor) .. Gracie Hart
Born: July 26, 1964 in Washington, DC
Best Known For: Her romcom appearances.
Early-life: Born Sandra Annette Bullock on July 26, 1964, in a suburb of Washington DC, although she lived in Nuremberg until the age of 12. Her mother was a German opera singer, her father a voice coach from Alabama. Sandra accompanied her mother on operatic tours and sang in the Nuremberg children's choir; she is fluent in German. After graduating from high school, Sandra attended East Carolina University, but left to pursue an acting career without completing her degree.
Career: Bullock moved to New York and studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse. Student films were followed by the Off-Broadway play No Time Flat. She went to Hollywood to appear in TV movie Bionic Showdown in 1989, and thought her big break had come when she landed the lead in a small-screen version of hit movie Working Girl. Sadly, the series flopped. Things began looking up in 1993 when she landed a role in Demolition Man; a year later she was a massive star thanks to Speed. Hits since include While You Were Sleeping, Miss Congeniality (and its sequel), Crash, Premonition and The Proposal. She won an Oscar for her performance in The Blind Side. Her recent credits include The Heat and Gravity.
Quote: 'Fame means when your computer modem is broken, the repair guy comes out to your house a little faster.'
Trivia: She can dance flamenco, salsa and tango.
Michael Caine (Actor) .. Victor Melling
Born: March 14, 1933 in London
Best Known For: His glasses and cockney accent.
Early-life: Born Maurice Joseph Micklewhite on March 14, 1933, in St Olave's Hospital, Rotherhithe, London. His father was a fish-market porter, his mother a charlady. He grew up with younger brother Stanley, but didn't know of his elder half-brother David until after their mother's death. David had severe epilepsy and lived all his life in hospital. Michael left school at 15 and did various jobs before joining the Army, and saw action in Korea. He decided to become an actor after taking part in plays at his local youth club, and took his stage name from Humphrey Bogart movie The Caine Mutiny.
Career: Caine worked on stage and appeared in small roles on TV, often struggling to make ends meet. He was good friends with Terence Stamp during the early 1960s, before either became famous, and they often shared digs. Caine decided if he wasn't successful by the age of 30 he'd quit acting. Days before this milestone he landed the role in Zulu which made his name. The Harry Palmer spy movies, The Italian Job and Alfie secured his star status. Since then, he's made many films, many forgettable and, by his own admission, done for the money. Highlights include Get Carter, Sleuth (plus a remake), The Man Who Would Be King, Educating Rita, Little Voice, Mona Lisa, Batman Begins, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Harry Brown and Interstellar. He won Oscars for Hannah and Her Sisters and The Cider House Rules. He claims he will retire from showbusiness when he's 90.
Quote: 'I'll always be around because I'm a skilled professional actor. Whether or not I've any talent is beside the point.'
Trivia: He was knighted in 2000.
William Shatner (Actor) .. Stan Fields
Born: March 22, 1931 in Quebec, Canada
Best Known For: Playing Captain Kirk in Star Trek.
Early-life: William Alan Shatner was born on March 22, 1931, in Quebec, Canada. His father was a clothing manufacturer. William attended Verdun High School and gained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University in Montreal. He was raised in a Jewish household and claims he was the victim of anti-semitism while growing up. After catching the acting bug he moved to New York in 1956, initially working on live TV dramas. He also understudied for Christopher Plummer in a stage production of Henry V.
Career: Shatner spent years as a jobbing actor, appearing in such movies as The Brothers Karamazov and The Intruder, as well as The Twilight Zone TV series before Star Trek made him a household name in 1966. He played Captain Kirk for three years before the show was cancelled, then appeared in numerous TV shows and movies before Star Trek: The Motion Picture relaunched his career in 1979. He starred as Kirk in six more films before the character was finally killed off in 1994. He has also featured in TJ Hooker, Free Enterprise and Miss Congeniality and its sequel. Shatner returned to TV in 2004 in the series Boston Legal. In 2010, he starred in his first sitcom, $#*! My Dad Says. Away from showbusiness, he's written several sci-fi novels, recorded a number of much-criticised albums and is a champion horse breeder.
Quote: On his most famous character: 'We were basically one and the same, although Kirk was just about perfect, and, of course, I am perfect.'
Trivia: In 2005, Shatner won a Golden Globe for his role on Boston Legal. He has also released several albums featuring his unique versions of popular songs.
