Ghana made it through to the finals after finishing top of CAF qualifying Group I, above the likes of Madagascar, Mali and Comoros after winning eight of their 10 matches. This is their fifth appearance at the World Cup finals and their second successive tournament after taking part four years ago in Qatar. Their opponents tonight also finished top of their qualifying group in the CONCACAF region, boasting an unbeaten record in Group A with three wins and three draws from their six fixtures, as The Canal Men reached their second World Cup after also making it to the 2018 tournament in Russia.
