Shirley Bassey (Performer)
Born: January 08, 1937 in Cardiff
Best Known For: Belting out Bond themes Goldfinger, Diamonds are Forever and Moonraker.
Early-life: Born January 8, 1937, to a Nigerian seaman and his Yorkshire wife. Shirley was raised in Tiger Bay, Cardiff, the youngest of seven children. Her father disappeared when she was two and she left school at 14 for a job in a factory. She performed on the local nightclub circuit, and when her big break as a singer came she took it, making her chart debut in 1957 with The Banana Boat Song.
Career: Had a stratospheric rise as a cabaret singer, engineered by her first manager Michael Sullivan. She has gone on to be one of Britain's best-loved divas, spending over 300 weeks on the UK chart with hits such as As I Love You, Reach for the Stars and the classic Big Spender. After a 24-year break from the charts, she returned in 1997 by appearing on the Propellerheads' single History Repeating, later to become to the theme to Channel 4 series So Graham Norton. She was made a Dame on New Year's Eve, 1999. In 2007, complete with diamante wellies, she stole the show at Glastonbury. Her last studio album to date, The Performance, was released in 2009. Shirley, a TV biopic of her life, debuted in 2011 with Agents of SHIELD star Ruth Negga playing Ms Bassey.
Quote: Her views on men: 'They're all supportive in the beginning, then, after a while, they can't take it any more.'
Trivia: At the 2013 Academy Awards, Bassey sang Goldfinger to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the James Bond movie franchise.
Tina Turner (Performer)
Tom Jones (Performer)
Born: June 07, 1940 in Trefforest, Pontypridd, South Wales
Best Known For: Thumping renditions of classic songs.
Early-life: Born Thomas John Woodward on June 7, 1940, in Treforest, Pontypridd, south Wales, the son of a housewife and a coal miner. He enjoyed singing, and performed with the Treforest Secondary Modern School choir. He left school, married his girlfriend Melinda (better known now as Linda) Trenchard and had a son - all by the age of 17. To make ends meet, Jones worked as a labourer, glove cutter, paper miller and vacuum cleaner salesman, singing at night with local bands.
Career: In 1963, Jones joined forces with songwriter Gordon Mills, who was beginning a career in management. A year later, his single, It's Not Unusual, written by Mills, topped the chart. Other early hits include She's a Lady, Help Yourself, Delilah, What's New Pussycat? and Without Love. His record sales waned during the 1970s, but he made a successful comeback in 1987, scoring a top 10 hit with The Boy from Nowhere. These days he's as popular as ever and his 1999 best-selling album, Reload, featured duets with some of the world's biggest contemporary acts, including Robbie Williams and Stereophonics. He continues to be one of the most successful recording artists in the world. He was knighted in 2006, and has been a judge on The Voice since 2012.
Quote: 'The fire is still in me. Not to be an oldie, but a goodie. I want to be a contender.'
Trivia: While filming an alien invasion during Mars Attacks! he burnt part of his scalp. He stopped dying his hair in 2009.

Best Known For: Making millions from pop.

The youngest of six children, she made her debut as a performer aged five at her aunt and uncle's silver wedding anniversary party. Her father died when she was 10 and her mother took several jobs to make ends meet, but still found time to teach all her children to read and write before they started school. Sheena was inspired to become a professional singer in 1973 after watching Barbra Streisand in The Way We Were.
Career: Sheena was working the cabaret circuit until she was spotted by Esther Rantzen on the TV documentary The Big Time. The show followed Sheena's attempts to become a pop star. Her first single, Modern Girl, flopped in 1980 but, when the TV show aired, Sheena became famous and her follow-up single 9 to 5 went to number three. She also recorded the James Bond theme, For Your Eyes Only. She later moved to America and began dabbling in acting. She appeared in TV hit Miami Vice, and movies including Indecent Proposal, Body Bags, and All Dogs Go To Heaven 2. She continues to sing and perform.
