Early-life:
Elizabeth Chase Olsen was born in Sherman Oaks, California, on February 16, 1989 to Jarnette and David. She is the younger sister of child stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. She has an older brother, Trent, and two younger half siblings. Her parents divorced in 1996. As a child, Elizabeth had ballet and singing lessons and also began acting at a young age. She went on to study at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
Career:
Olsen's breakthrough role came in the critically acclaimed film Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011), for which she won a number of awards. Movie roles followed in Silent House (2011), Peace, Love & Understanding (2011), Red Lights (2012), Kill Your Darlings (2013) and Oldboy (2013). More recently, she has starred in the Hollywood blockbusters Godzilla (2014) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
