Julian Barratt (Actor) .. Richard Thorncroft
Born: May 04, 1968 in Leeds
Best Known For: Playing Howard Moon in The Mighty Boosh.
Early-life: Julian Barratt Pettifer was born on May 4, 1968 in Leeds. He studied at the University of Reading. Julian chose to use his middle name as his surname to avoid getting confused with reporter Julian Pettifer.
Career: Barratt appeared in black comedy TV series Asylum in 1996 and as various characters in the sketch show Unnatural Acts, which he was also a writer for, in 1998. He shot to prominence when he played Howard Moon in comedy series The Mighty Boosh. He also composed all the music for the series. Barratt appeared in comedy series Garth Marenghi's Darkplace in 2004 and Nathan Barley in 2005. More recently, he has appeared in TV film Treasure Island (2012) and A Field in England (2013), as well as episodes of White Heat, Being Human and Flowers. He also co-wrote and starred in the film Mindhorn (2016). Away from acting, Barratt has narrated a number of documentaries, including The Tube, The Route Masters: Running London's Roads and The Fifteen Billion Pound Railway.
Quote: 'Stand-up's a lonely trade. On the surface it's social but you're really on your own. I didn't really like it. I like the dynamic of a double act.'
Trivia: He and Noel Fielding, as The Mighty Boosh, won The Perrier Best Newcomer Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1998.
Essie Davis (Actor) .. Patricia Deville
Steve Coogan (Actor) .. Peter Easterman
Born: October 14, 1965 in Middleton, Lancashire
Best Known For: Playing hopeless presenter Alan Partridge.
Early-life: Stephen John Coogan was born on October 14, 1965, in Middleton, Lancashire. His parents are Irish and he is the fourth of seven children. It was clear from an early age he was a natural mimic. After leaving the Manchester Polytechnic School of Theatre he became an impressionist, and featured on Spitting Image and the Royal Variety Show. He tired of being, in his words, 'a cut-rate Rory Bremner' and decided to create characters of his own. The decision paid off, and he won the Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1992.
Career: After becoming a cult favourite with Radio 4's On the Hour, Coogan made his TV breakthrough in 1993 with roles on Saturday Zoo and The Day Today. The former introduced his foul-mouthed Mancunian layabout Paul Calf, and the latter brought his most famous radio creation, Alan Partridge, to the small screen. He appeared in horror spoof Dr Terrible's House of Horrible and also made a handful of hit-and-miss films, including Terry Jones's version of Wind in the Willows, The Parole Officer and 24 Hour Party People. He's enjoyed success in America with such films as Around the World in 80 Days, A Night at the Museum and Tropic Thunder. In 2010 he appeared with Rob Brydon in contemplative BBC sitcom The Trip, and more recently in its sequel, The Trip to Italy. He also co-wrote and starred in Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa and Philomena.
Quote: 'When my life has been the subject of tabloid intrusion, what I have never done is get engaged in justifying myself. Celebrities who go round apologising are pitiful, and don't do themselves any favours.'
Trivia: Coogan and his writing partner, Henry Normal, own Baby Cow Productions, which has backed such hits as Human Remains, Moone Boy, Gavin & Stacey, Nighty Night and The Mighty Boosh.
Simon Farnaby (Actor) .. Clive Parnevik
Richard McCabe (Actor) .. Jeffrey Moncrieff
Andrea Riseborough (Actor) .. DS Elena Baines
Russell Tovey (Actor) .. Paul Melly
Born: November 14, 1981 in Essex
Best Known For: Being Human and his guest appearances on Doctor Who.
Early-life: Russell George Tovey was born on November 14, 1981, in Essex. While attending Shenfield High School in Essex, Tovey was chosen to appear on CBBC's Mud alongside a young Russell Brand. Ten years later Alan Bennett selected Tovey for the stage version of The History Boys. He was chosen to play Rudge, a Tim-nice-but-dim character who's known for his athletic prowess and academic floundering. The role also gave Tovey his first experience on Broadway, as he honed his acting chops with future Gavin & Stacey star James Corden.
Career: Two years after The History Boys hit theatres, the original cast - including Tovey - were reassembled for a big screen adaptation. It proved to be the springboard that ignited his career, and he appeared opposite Rob Brydon on Annually Retentive shortly after, before bagging guest spots on Gavin & Stacey and Doctor Who. His face was fast becoming recognisable on British screens, and Russell T Davies even put his name forward as a potential replacement for David Tennant as the eleventh Doctor Who. After a stint on the BBC's Little Dorrit period drama, Tovey's long-awaited opportunity in a lead role arrived in 2008's Being Human. He also stars in the HBO comedy drama Looking and ITV's The Job Lot.
Quote: 'People say I have big ears. They're actually small, but they stick out.'
Trivia: For a time during his teens, he worked in the kitchen of a Billericay pub.
