Born: January 09, 1965 in London
Best Known For: Nip/Tuck.
Early-life: Joely Kim Richardson was born in London on January 9, 1965. She's the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave and director Tony Richardson. Acting is in her family's blood - her mother, grandfather Michael, grandmother Rachel Kempson, sister Natasha, uncle Corin, aunt Lyn and cousin Jemma all became thespians. She made her film debut at the age of three in her father's production The Charge of the Light Brigade. She attended school in California, and originally wanted to be a gymnast before entering the family 'trade'.
Career: Richardson's early films include The Hotel New Hampshire (directed by her dad), Wetherby (playing her mother as a young woman), King Ralph, and Shining Through. Controversial TV series Lady Chatterley made her famous in 1993. She went on to appear in numerous projects, such as Loch Ness, 101 Dalmatians, Event Horizon, Maybe Baby, and The Patriot before accepting a role in acclaimed US small screen hit Nip/Tuck in 2003, which made her a global household name. Her recent work includes the TV movie Wallis & Edward, The Tudors and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Quote: 'You grow up by making mistakes. I've made a ton of them, but as long as I keep on failing better, I don't mind.'
Trivia: Richardson is a talented tennis player and flirted with the idea of becoming a professional; she attended the Harry Hopman Tennis School in Florida during her teens.
