Documentary looking at four of Britain's 15 national parks, capturing the sights and sounds of these unique places and meeting the people who live and work there. The opening edition visits the New Forest, once a royal hunting ground for William the Conqueror and now a mosaic of open heathlands, ancient woodlands, coastline and picturesque villages. The park is home to ponies, deer, rare bird species and reptiles, while the traditional grazing practices of generations of commoners sustain this landscape, with their ponies and pigs roaming freely throughout the park
