Early-life:
Barbra Joan Streisand was born on April 24, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York. She has an older brother and a younger half-sister. Her father, a respected teacher, died when she was 15 months old. Her mother later remarried briefly. Streisand did well in her studies and became interested in show business. She gained a place at the MGM training school, but her mother refused to let her go. However, Streisand won a singing contest while on holiday, and then began performing professionally.
Career:
At 17, Streisand landed her first acting job in the play Driftwood, co-starring Joan Rivers. She sang in clubs before winning a Tony award for her performance in Broadway's I Can Get It for You Wholesale. She won an Oscar for her first film, Funny Girl, in 1968, and another for co-writing the theme for A Star Is Born. Since then, she's become one of the best-selling recording artists in US history. She's starred in and directed several films, including Yentl (which she also produced and co-wrote).

Early-life:
Born in Brownsville, Texas, on June 22, 1936. His father was in the Air Force, and the family lived on several military bases before settling in California. Kris studied literature at Pomona College before winning a scholarship to Oxford. While in England, he was given a record deal, but couldn't release any recordings as he had already signed a contract with an LA manager. He later became a captain in the US Army, but quit to pursue a career in music, getting his big break when Johnny Cash recorded his song Sunday Morning Coming Down.
Career:
Janis Joplin and Sammi Smith had number ones with his songs Me and Bobby McGee and Help Me Make It Through the Night. In 1972, Kris scored a hit in his own right thanks to Why Me, and went on to make several successful albums. His acting debut came in The Last Movie in 1971, followed by Cisco Pike, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid and A Star is Born. He later formed country supergroup the Highway Men with Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. More recently, he's starred in Dolphin Tale, Deadfall and When Angels Sing.

Gary was born in Cross Creek, Texas, on June 29, 1944 to Sadie and Delmer. He attended Pittsburg State University on a football scholarship and it was here that he became interested in acting. He transferred to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. His first taste of showbusiness came when he played the drums in several bands.
Career:
Busey made his acting debut as a biker in Angels Hard as They Come (1971). He went on to have small parts in a number of films and TV shows until his breakthrough role in The Buddy Holly Story (1978). He played Holly and his performance earned him an Oscar nomination. His most notable role in the 1980s was playing an assassin in the hugely popular Lethal Weapon (1987). In 1988, he was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. Years later, a psychiatrist suspected the injury had caused him to speak and act impulsively. In 1997, Busey had surgery to remove a golf-ball-sized cancerous tumour from his sinus cavity. His other film credits include Predator 2 (1990), Point Break (1991), Under Siege (1992), Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998) and Piranha 3DD (2012). In the summer of 2014, he entered the Celebrity Big Brother house.

Early-life:
Robert Barton Englund was born in Glendale, California, on June 6, 1947 to John and Janis. He has Swedish, Danish, Scottish and English ancestry. He started studying acting at the age of 12 in a theatre programme at California State University, Northridge. He went on to attend the Cranbrook Theatre School, California State University and Michigan's Oakland University, where he trained at the Meadow Brook Theatre. His first major film role was in Eaten Alive (1977).
Career:
Englund first came to prominence in 1983 when he played the role of resistance fighter Willie in the miniseries V. The following year, he landed the role he is best known for, Freddy Krueger in Wes Craven's A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984). He reprised the role in a number of sequels, the last one being Freddy vs Jason in 2003. Outside of the Freddy Krueger universe, Englund has starred in a number of films and made guest appearances in various TV shows, including Charmed, Bones, Chuck, Supernatural and Hawaii-Five-0.
