Early-life:
Jonathan Alberto Leguizamo was born in Bogota, Colombia, on July 22, 1964. He emigrated with his family at the age of four to the US and was raised in Queens, New York City. A schoolteacher suggested he go into performing after pointing out he was wasting his considerable talents on merely disrupting lessons. In his late teens he studied drama at New York University, as well appearing numerous times on the comedy club circuit as a stand-up.
Career:
One of Leguizamo's early acting roles was a small part in Casualties of War (1989). More movies followed, including Die Hard 2 (1990), Super Mario Bros (1993), Carlito's Way (1993), To Wong Foo (1995), Romeo + Juliet (1996), Summer of Sam (1999) and Moulin Rouge (2001). More recently, he has starred in The Lincoln Lawyer (2011), Kick-Ass 2 (2013), The Counselor (2013), Ride Along (2014) and Chef (2014).
