In Essex, kicking off the competition is chef and owner Billy and his manager Sam, who are confident that their original vegan BBQ menu can bag them the grand. A rival vegan restaurant in the group relish the prospect of an all plant-based competition, and have their suspicions of who they're coming up against from reading the menu. Day two sees chef Daniel and front of house manager Fabio from the only non-vegan restaurant - Caesars - try to impress with their fine-dining style and offering of vegan options. Presentation is everything to them and Daniel is keen to prove to the group that he knows his vegetables. Finally, it's the turn of chef Jim and his partner Samantha from vegan restaurant The Oak Tree to showcase their laidback, hearty vegan food. Samantha, normally front of house, gambles it all and ventures into the kitchen to attempt dessert, something that's normally done by a supplier
