Phil Spencer (Presenter)
Born: December 11, 1969 in Littlebourne, Kent
Best Known For: Location, Location, Location.
Early-life: Philip Cuthbert Spencer was born on December 11, 1969, in Littlebourne, Kent, and grew up, the second eldest of four children, on his family's farm. He was educated at Uppingham School (he eventually became head boy), the alma mater of such luminaries as Stephen Fry, Donald Campbell and Johnny Vaughan. Phil initially considered joining the army, but trained to be a surveyor and worked as an estate agent before setting up Garrington Home Finders firm, a property search agency to help buyers with property search, negotiation and purchase process.
Career: It was his promotion of Garrington and the concept of using a buying agent to find a home that led Spencer to become the co-host of Location, Location, Location and Relocation, Relocation alongside Kirstie Allsopp. The duo have become one of TV's most successful double acts and have fronted various projects based on the property market. Despite having helped numerous celebrities find homes, Garrington Home Finders Ltd eventually went into administration as a result of the recession. Spencer's TV career continues to flourish, however, and he is a director and shareholder of independent production company Raise the Roof.
Quote: "I fundamentally believe the long-term trend of house prices will be an upward one. But all markets are cyclical and we are currently in a downturn. It won't last forever. We live on an island with a housing shortage and an increasing population."
Trivia: He writes for several magazines and newspapers, including GQ and The Sunday Times. He has two sons.
