Liam Gallagher (Actor)
Born: September 21, 1972 in Burnage, Manchester
Best Known For: His time with Oasis.
Early-life: Born September 21, 1972 in Burnage, Manchester to Irish parents Thomas and Peggy Gallagher. A troubled upbringing led to him getting into numerous scrapes, but his anger was tempered by a love of music, especially the Beatles, the Who and T Rex. His school friend Paul McGuigan invited him to join his band the Rain, where he became vocalist and co-lyricist. Liam became a roadie for Inspiral Carpets and after returning from America in 1992 he persuaded brother Noel to join the band. They eventually changed their name to Oasis.
Career: With Noel on board the band soon landed a record contract, and their debut offering, Definitely Maybe, which became one of the fastest-selling British debut albums ever. In 1997 it was named the 14th greatest album of all time in a 'Music of the Millennium' poll. Follow-up album (What's the Story) Morning Glory was even more successful, staying at number one on the UK album charts for 10 weeks. It remains one of the biggest-selling albums in UK chart history. Oasis released five more albums before splitting.
Quote: Regarding the row which brought about Noel's departure from Oasis, Liam said: 'It wasn't a big thing for me. I've had bigger arguments with my toenails.'
Trivia: Gallagher was voted the greatest frontman of all time in a 2010 UK poll for Q magazine.
