Early-life:
Born Noomi Noren in Hudiksvall, Sweden, on December 28, 1979 to Nina and Rogelio. She has a sister, Saerun. At the age of five, Noomi moved with her mother and her stepfather to Iceland. Two years later, she made her acting debut with a non-speaking role in the film In the Shadow of the Raven (1988). Aged 15, she left home and enrolled in a Stockholm theatre school.
Career:
In 1996, Rapace made her TV debut in Swedish soap opera Tre kronor. From 1998 to 1999, she attended the acting school Skara Skolscen. In 2007, she won critical acclaim for her role as a teen mother in Danish film Daisy Diamond. Two years later, her big break came when she played the lead role of Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish adaptation of the best-selling novel The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She reprised her role in the sequels The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest. They were originally shown on TV and then re-edited for a cinema release. Since then, Rapace has starred in a number of Hollywood movies, including Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), Prometheus (2012) and Dead Man Down (2013).
