Early-life:
Craig was born in Stockport, Greater Manchester, on September 11, 1960, and first rose to prominence in the late 1980s as a music radio DJ on Manchester station KFM. His shows featured a section entitled Who's Mother, which featured the vocal talents of long-time writing partner Caroline Aherne.
Career:
Cash is known for his many collaborations with Aherne, having worked with her on programmes including The Mrs Merton Show and The Fast Show, before their break-out hit The Royle Family. The two play husband and wife Dave and Denise Best on the show. Cash also wrote the critically acclaimed sitcom Early Doors, and the drama Sunshine.

I'm not going to point the finger and say: 'That programme is definitely influenced by The Royle Family.' I try not to think 'that's ripped us off' because it just gets me annoyed. Everyone has influences and if The Royle Family has influenced other programmes then I'm delighted.'
