Early-life:
Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan was born in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, on January 7, 1967 to Begum and Jagirdar. In 1984, Irrfan earned a scholarship to study at the National School of Drama in New Delhi. He went on to star in a number of TV serials on Indian TV.
Career:
Khan's big break came in in 2001 when he played the lead in Asif Kapadia's The Warrior. It won the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film at the Bafta Film Awards. His first Bollywood lead came in the 2005 film Rog. Since then, he has starred in a number of Bollywood and English-language films. His credits include Slumdog Millionaire (2008), New York, I Love You (2009), Paan Singh Tomar (2012), The Amazing Spider-Man (2012), Life of Pi (2012), Jurassic World (2015) and Inferno (2016). He voiced the character Baloo in the Hindi localisation of The Jungle Book (2016).
