Early-life: Antonia Collette was born on November 1, 1972, in Sydney, Australia, the first of three children to truck driver Bob and his wife Judy, a customer service representative. After leaving school at 16, she enrolled in the National Institute of Dramatic Arts, and supported herself by delivering pizzas. After studying for 18 months, she left to star in the Russell Crowe movie Spotswood. She was nominated for the Australian Film Institute plaudit of Best Supporting Actress.
Career: In 1994, Collette landed the lead role in Muriel's Wedding, gaining 40 lbs for the part. She made her Hollywood debut in hit-and-miss 1995 comedy The Pallbearer. However, her Oscar-nominated role in The Sixth Sense really put her on the map in Tinseltown. Toni has also appeared in Shaft, About a Boy and won critical acclaim for her work in 2006 comedy drama Little Miss Sunshine. Later projects include Tsunami: The Aftermath, The Black Balloon, and Hey, Hey, It's Esther Blueburger. Between 2009 and 2011 she starred in the American comedy drama United States of Tara in a role that saw her win an Emmy and Golden Globe. Away from acting, she also plays in her band Toni Collette and the Finish.

Best Known For: Being James Bond.
Early-life: Daniel Wroughton Craig was born in Chester on March 2, 1968. His father is a former merchant seaman and pub landlord, his mother an art teacher. Daniel has an older sister, Lea, and knew from an early age he wanted to be an actor, but failed to get into drama school at 17. He spent time with the National Youth Theatre before being accepted by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Career: Craig started out on stage, eventually making his film debut in 1992's The Power of One. TV series Our Friends in the North and TV movie The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders made him a star in 1996. The movies Elizabeth (1998), Love is the Devil (1998), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), Road to Perdition (2002), The Mother (2003), Sylvia (2003), Enduring Love (2004), Layer Cake (2004) and Munich (2005) followed. He was controversially cast in a five-film deal as James Bond, but proved doubters wrong with an outstanding performance in Casino Royale (2006). He's since followed it up with Quantum of Solace (2008) and Skyfall (2012). He's also appeared in Cowboys & Aliens (2011), and the US remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011).

Best Known For: Roles in a number of hit shows.
Early-life: Born in Stockton-On-Tees, Cleveland, on October 15, 1965. He was raised a Catholic and considered becoming a priest. He later moved to St Anne's-on-Sea in Lancashire when his bank clerk father was promoted to manager. His mother was a primary school teacher. His grandfather encouraged him to become an actor and, after making his first stage appearance in The Crucible while in the sixth-form, he attended the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.
Career: Tompkinson has rarely been out of work since thanks to radio, stage, TV and film roles. Early parts came in The Manageress, Casualty and Treacle, before he got his first big role playing ruthless reporter Damien Day in acclaimed sitcom Drop The Dead Donkey in 1990. All Quiet on the Preston Front, Chancer and Minder followed, before Brassed Off and Ballykissangel made him a star in 1996. Hollywood agents came knocking, but Tompkinson preferred to stay in the UK to star in Grafters, Mr Charity, Ted and Alice, In Deep, Staying Up and Lucky Jim. He's also had roles in New Tricks, Marian, Again, Prime Suspect: The Final Act, Wild at Heart and Truckers. The drama DCI Banks has become a regular fixture in the schedules.

Early-life: Helen Elizabeth McCrory was born on August 17, 1968, in London. Her mother is Welsh, her father is a Scottish diplomat, and Helen is the eldest of their three children. She was educated at a Hertfordshire boarding school, but also lived in Africa and Europe, where her father was posted. She also took a year out to live in Italy after leaving school before enrolling at Drama Centre London.
Career: McCrory's earliest professional roles came on stage. She made her TV debut in the 1993 series Full Stretch; her first film was Interview with the Vampire a year later, and she won a Royal Television Award for another early project, Streetlife, in which she starred alongside Rhys Ifans. She's continued to juggle theatre and screen work ever since. Among her best-known movies are Charlotte Gray, The Count of Monte Cristo, Enduring Love, The Queen, Skyfall and three entries in the Harry Potter franchise. On TV she's appeared in Trial & Retribution, Anna Karenina, North Square, Lucky Jim, Messiah, Life, Doctor Who and Peaky Blinders. She's also filmed the miniseries To Appomattox alongside Rob Lowe and her husband, Damian Lewis.
