Career: Nighy honed his craft at Liverpool's Everyman Theatre in the 1970s. He made his TV debut in 1980 in sitcom Agony. His first film, Eye of the Needle, came a year later. Career: In 1991, Zeta-Jones became a household name in the UK after starring in the hugely popular The Darling Buds of May on TV alongside David Jason. She then played supporting roles in a variety of films, before Steven Spielberg spotted her and offered her a major part in The Mask of Zorro. Credits have since included The Haunting, Entrapment, High Fidelity and Traffic. In 2002 she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Chicago. Career: Courtenay's film debut was in 1962 with Private Potter. This was followed by The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner and Billy Liar, two highly acclaimed films and performances which helped usher in the British New Wave of the early-to-mid 1960s. For these roles Courtenay was awarded the 1962 Bafta for most promising newcomer and the 1963 award for best actor. He was nominated for an Oscar in 1965 for his role as revolutionary leader Pasha Antipov in Doctor Zhivago. Despite being catapulted to fame via the big screen he concentrated on stage work. Both Courtenay and pal Albert Finney received nominations for Best Actor in the 1984 Academy Awards for their roles in The Dresser. He teamed up again with Finney in the acclaimed BBC drama A Rather English Marriage. More recent work includes Last Orders, The Golden Compass, and an appearance in the 2008 Christmas special of The Royle Family.

Career: Gambon became a member of Laurence Olivier's first Royal National Theatre company, and made his movie debut in 1965's Othello, alongside the star. His role in long-running TV show The Borderers led to an audition for James Bond. Parts in such forgettable productions as The Beast Must Die and Nothing But the Night came next. It was The Singing Detective in 1986 that finally made him a star. He's worked steadily ever since in the likes of Maigret, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park, Doctor Who, Quartet, Sleepy Hollow and Fortitude. Career: Harrison's big break as an actor came in 2008 when he was cast in the role of Neil Sutherland in E4 comedy The Inbetweeners alongside Simon Bird, James Buckley and Joe Thomas. Three series were followed by two hugely successful spin-off movies. His other TV credits include Him & Her, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, White Van Man, Bleak Old Shop of Stuff, Big Bad World and Edge of Heaven.

Career: After graduating, Mays landed a number of small roles in such TV series as EastEnders, In Deep and The Bill as well as the film Pearl Harbor (2001). He starred in BBC drama Rehab in 2003. Mays then went on to land roles in such TV series as Top Buzzer, Funland, Plus One and Ashes to Ashes. He also had an appearance in an episode of Doctor Who. Mays had parts in such films as Atonement (2007), Made in Dagenham (2010) and The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (2011). As well as TV and film, Mays has had work in theatre, including six plays at London's Royal Court Theatre. More recently, he has had roles in TV series Line of Duty and Born to Kill, as well as Rogue One (2016).

Career: Paterson's TV debut came in 1977's Bafta-winning Licking Hitler. A year later he appeared in The Vanishing Army and Smiley's People. He went on to feature in such films as The Killing Fields, A Private Function, Defence of the Realm, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Chaplin, Bright Young Things and Truly, Madly, Deeply. Other TV projects include The Singing Detective, Traffik, The Crow Road, Doctor Zhivago, Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, and Law & Order: UK. He was also nominated for an Olivier Award for Bertolt Brecht's Schwekyk in the Second World War in 1982 and has done extensive voiceover work on TV and radio.
