Sean Connery (Actor) .. Robert `Mac" MacDougal
Born: August 25, 1930 in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh
Best Known For: Being the first big-screen James Bond.
Early-life: Thomas Sean Connery was born in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh on August 25, 1930. He first worked as a milkman and coffin polisher before joining the Navy at 16. During his spell in the service he had two tattoos etched on his right arm; he was eventually forced to leave after developing a stomach ulcer. At 19, he made ends meet as an artist's model at Edinburgh's School of Art. He also competed in the Mr Universe body-building competition in 1953.
Career: While still a bodybuilder, Sean was offered the chance to appear in a West End production of South Pacific, which kick-started his acting career. His film debut came in 1955's Lilacs in the Spring, but he didn't become a major star until he appeared as Bond in 1962's Dr No. It remains his most famous role, despite hits including The Man Who Would Be King, Rising Sun, A Bridge Too Far, Time Bandits, Highlander, The Rock, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Entrapment. He won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for The Untouchables in 1987.
Quote: "I never disliked Bond, as some have thought. Creating a character like that does take a certain craft. It's simply natural to seek other roles."
Trivia: He was knighted in 2000.
Catherine Zeta-Jones (Actor) .. Virginia `Gin" Baker
Born: September 25, 1969 in Swansea
Best Known For: Being Mrs Michael Douglas.
Early-life: Born Catherine Zeta Jones (the hyphen came later) on September 25, 1969, she was raised in Swansea by her Irish mother and Welsh father. The name Zeta was derived from her grandmother. Fiercely ambitious, she became an accomplished singer and actress from a young age, largely as a result of her involvement with the local Catholic congregation's amateur performing troupe. After moving to London to pursue a full-time acting career, she landed her first West End lead role, in the musical 42nd Street.
Career: In 1991, Zeta-Jones became a household name in the UK after starring in the hugely popular The Darling Buds of May on TV alongside David Jason. She then played supporting roles in a variety of films, before Steven Spielberg spotted her and offered her a major part in The Mask of Zorro. Credits have since included The Haunting, Entrapment, High Fidelity and Traffic. In 2002 she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Chicago. Since then, she's appeared in The Terminal, Intolerable Cruelty and Ocean's Twelve. She reprised her role as Elena de la Vega in The Legend of Zorro. She returned to the stage in 2009 and won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance on Broadway in A Little Night Music.
Quote: "For marriage to be a success, every woman and every man should have her and his own bathroom. The end."
Trivia: Zeta-Jones has appeared in TV commercials for T-Mobile and Alfa Romeo.
Ving Rhames (Actor) .. Thibadeaux
Born: May 12, 1959 in New York
Best Known For: Pulp Fiction.
Early-life: Irving Rameses Rhames was born in New York City in 1959 and grew up in Harlem. A good student, he entered New York's School of Performing Arts, where he discovered his love of acting. After high school, he studied drama where fellow acting student Stanley Tucci gave him his nickname "Ving". Rhames later transferred to Juilliard, where he began his career in New York theater.
Career: Rhames first appeared on Broadway in the play The Winter Boys in 1984. Ving continued his rise to fame through his work in soap operas. He found work as a supporting actor, and came to the attention of the general public by playing the role of Marsellus Wallace in Pulp Fiction (1994). Major hits like Con-Air and the three Mission Impossible movies followed. He won a Golden Globe in 1998 for best actor in a TV miniseries for his performance in HBO's Don King: Only in America - and memorably presented it to Jack Lemmon. Other hits include Bringing Out the dead and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. He played the title role in a short-lived remake of Kojak.
Quote: "My approach to the work is the same, whether I had the lead or a supporting role. I consider myself a character actor in the true sense of the word. Unless I'm doing my autobiography, I'm playing a character."
Trivia: He put on 30lbs for his role in Striptease.
