Daniel Wroughton Craig was born in Chester on March 2, 1968. His father is a former merchant seaman and pub landlord, his mother an art teacher. Daniel has an older sister, Lea, and knew from an early age he wanted to be an actor, but failed to get into drama school at 17. He spent time with the National Youth Theatre before being accepted by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Career:
Craig started out on stage, eventually making his film debut in 1992's The Power of One. TV series Our Friends in the North and TV movie The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders made him a star in 1996. The movies Elizabeth (1998), Love is the Devil (1998), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), Road to Perdition (2002), The Mother (2003), Sylvia (2003), Enduring Love (2004), Layer Cake (2004) and Munich (2005) followed. He was controversially cast in a five-film deal as James Bond, but proved doubters wrong with an outstanding performance in Casino Royale (2006). He's since followed it up with Quantum of Solace (2008) and Skyfall (2012). He's also appeared in Cowboys & Aliens (2011), and the US remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011).

Rhys Owain Evans was born on July 22, 1968, in Ruthin, Wales. Welsh is his first language. He's the son of two teachers, and has a brother, Llyr, who's also an actor. Ifans changed his name when he was 13, 'just to be difficult and awkward'. Around the same time he joined a youth theatre, and later moved to London to study acting at the Guildhall School.
Career:
Ifans spent 18 months at the National Theatre and has also appeared at Manchester's Royal Exchange theatre. His first TV appearances were in Welsh-language programmes for S4C. In 1995, he made his movie debut in Streetlife. Two years later he appeared on the small screen in The Sin Eater and Trial and Retribution, and starred in the film Twin Town with his brother. Notting Hill made him a star in 1999. Since then he's featured in Kevin and Perry Go Large, Little Nicky, The 51st State, The Shipping News and Vanity Fair. His recent work includes Enduring Love, Hannibal Rising, Elizabeth: The Golden Age, The Boat That Rocked, Greenberg, Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, and The Amazing Spider-Man.

Born Samantha Jane Morton in Nottingham on May 13, 1977, to parents who divorced when she was three. They both subsequently remarried, and she has eight brothers and sisters. Samantha was inspired by a teacher to think about a career in acting, and went on to train at the Central Junior Television Workshop. She left at the age of 16 and joined the Royal Court theatre group. At the same time, she appeared in episodes of Soldier Soldier, Boon, Peak Practice and Cracker, and first attracted major attention playing a young prostitute in Band of Gold. She followed that up with leading roles in adaptations of Emma and Jane Eyre.
Career:
Samantha's first major movie, Under the Skin gained her a Best Actress Award from the Boston Film Critics Society. The attention made director Woody Allen take notice and he cast her as Hattie in Sweet and Lowdown, for which she received an Oscar nomination. Samantha then played a heroin addict in Jesus' Son, gave another superb performance in Morvern Caller, and was subsequently cast by Steven Spielberg for the sci-fi thriller Minority Report opposite Tom Cruise. The 2002 In America role, which saw her as a young Irish mother coping with life in New York City, won her numerous accolades and another Academy-Award nod. She gained more critical acclaim for her portrayal of Moors murderer Myra Hindley in Channel 4's drama Longford. She made her directorial debut in 2009 with Channel 4 drama The Unloved.

Born William Francis Nighy on December 12, 1949, in Caterham, Surrey. His mother was a psychiatric nurse, his father a car mechanic. He has two older siblings and claims he probably would have followed in his dad's footsteps had he not discovered literature in his teens. Although not academically gifted at school, he ran away to Paris to write a novel. After failing to put pen to paper, he returned to the UK to become a journalist, but realised he wasn't cut out for it. On the advice of a girlfriend, he went to drama school.
Career:
Nighy honed his craft at Liverpool's Everyman Theatre in the 1970s. He made his TV debut in 1980 in sitcom Agony. His first film, Eye of the Needle, came a year later. He has juggled acclaimed stage appearances with TV and film work. His role as a randy lecturer in 1991's The Men's Room made him a heart-throb, but he didn't become familiar to audiences until a string of hits beginning with 1998's Still Crazy, followed by Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, State of Play, and Love Actually. He also starred in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels, Stormbreaker and Underworld: Evolution. Other projects include Valkyrie, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, The Boat That Rocked, G-Force, Wild Target. The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and playwright David Hare's Worricker trilogy.

Susan Lynch was born on June 5, 1971, in Co Armagh, Northern Ireland, to an Italian mother and Irish father. She grew up with four siblings in isolation (one of them is actor John Lynch). With no TV, and a limited electricity supply, the family made their own entertainment. She trained at Central School of Speech and Drama, and made her TV debut in a 1991 episode of The Bill. Following a bit-part in the BBC One play Running Late, she made a memorable appearance in one of the first Cracker episodes, To Say I Love You in 1993. Benjamin John Whishaw was born in Clifton, Bedfordshire, on October 14, 1980 to an English mother and a father of French, German and Russian descent. He has a fraternal twin, James. Ben developed an interest in theatre when he attended Samuel Whitbread Community College and became a member of the Bancroft Players Youth Theatre at Hitchin's Queen Mother Theatre. In 1995, his performance in the play If This Is a Man was well received at the Edinburgh Festival. Ben went on to graduate from Rada in 2004 and in the same year, he landed the role of Hamlet in a production by Trevor Nunn, for which he was nominated for an Olivier Award and the Ian Charleson Award.
