Early-life: Josh James Brolin was born in Santa Monica, California, on February 12, 1968, the son of wildlife activist Jane Cameron Agee and actor James Brolin. His parents divorced when he was 16. He became interested in acting at high school. His first major role was in The Goonies (1985).
Career: He went on to work in TV in such series as Private Eye and The Young Riders and appeared in a number of big-screen flops until he was finally noticed for his supporting role in Grindhouse (2007). In the same year he also starred in American Gangster and In the Valley of Elah. Since then, he has appeared in a number of prominent films, including No Country for Old Men (2007), W. Early-life: Born Jacob Benjamin Gyllenhaal on December 19, 1980, in Los Angeles, the son of film director Stephen Gyllenhaal and producer and screenwriter Naomi Foner. He's the younger brother of critically acclaimed actress Maggie Gyllenhaal and his godmother is Jamie Lee Curtis; Paul Newman gave him his first driving lesson. He was acting by the age of 11, appearing on the big screen in a brief turn as Billy Crystal's son in City Slickers in 1991, and in the little-seen kid's adventure Josh and S.A.M. in 1993. But his parents also insisted that he tackle ordinary jobs so that he would learn to appreciate his otherwise privileged upbringing.
Career: Gyllenhaal won critical praise and an army of fans with his breakout performance in Donnie Darko in 2001. He played opposite Jennifer Aniston in another Sundance Film Festival favourite, 2002's The Good Girl, and once again earned good reviews. Marking his theatre debut, Gyllenhaal arrived on the London stage with a starring role in Kenneth Lonergan's revival of This Is Our Youth. Early-life: Born Kiera Christina Knightley in Teddington, Middlesex, on March 26, 1985, she is the daughter of TV actor Will Knightley and playwright Sharman Macdonald. Her mother also trod the boards, but a mixture of severe stage fright and the responsibilities of looking after Keira and her elder brother Caleb ended her acting aspirations. At the age of three, after watching both her parents receive calls from their agents, Keira demanded one of her own. She persisted for three years until her mother relented.
Career: By the age of seven, Knightley had made her TV debut in the drama Royal Celebration, but during the 1990s, she was only allowed to act during the summer holidays. Her first high-profile role was playing Natalie Portman's handmaiden in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, but it was Bend It Like Beckham that proved to be her breakthrough. In the same year, she appeared in a mini-series version of Doctor Zhivago, and in 2003 featured in Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, and Love Actually. Early-life: Robin Gayle Wright was born in Dallas, Texas, on April 8, 1966, but she was raised in San Diego, California. She started working at the age of 14 as a model in Paris and Japan. After finishing high school she decided to become an actress.
Career: Wright first became famous on TV, playing Kelly Capwell on the soap opera Santa Barbara, and shot to stardom after her roles as Buttercup in The Princess Bride and Jenny Curran in Forrest Gump, the latter role garnering her a Golden Globe Award nomination for best supporting actress. She then put in an exceptional performance in Jack Nicholson flick, The Pledge. Her recent work includes roles in Whie Oleander, The Singing Detective, Nine Lives, Beowulf, New York, I Love You, State of Play, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee, and House of Cards.

Early-life: Samuel Henry John Worthington was born in Godalming, Surrey, on August 2, 1976 and moved to Perth, Western Australia, when he was six months old. He was brought up by his mother Jeanne and his sister Lucinda. He went on to attend John Curtin College of the Arts, a school specialising in dramatic arts. When he left college, his father gave him $400 and sent him on a one-way trip to Cairns, Queensland, and told him to work his way home. Sam worked on construction and odd jobs before settling in Sydney. At the age of 19, while working as a bricklayer, he was accepted into the National Institute of Dramatic Art. His first professional role came in the Belvoir Street Theatre's production of Judas Kiss.
Career: Worthington began landing guest starring roles in a number of TV shows, including JAG, Water Rats and Blue Heelers. He made his film debut in the Australian movie Bootmen (2000). Film roles followed in Hart's War (2002), Dirty Deeds (2002) and Gettin' Square (2003). His first break came a year later when he landed his first lead role in Somersault (2004) opposite Abbie Cornish. His international career took off in 2009 after playing Marcus Wright in James Cameron's Avatar. Since then, he has starred in Terminator Salvation (2009), Clash of the Titans (2010), Last Night (2010), Texas Killing Fields (2011), Wrath of the Titans (2012) and Cake (2014). Early-life: Emily Margaret Watson was born in London on January 14, 1967 to Richard and Katharine. Her father was an architect and her mother was an English teacher. She went on to study English at the University of Bristol before training at the Drama Studio London.
Career: Watson's acting career began on the stage with roles in the likes of The Children's Hour, Three Sisters, and Much Ado About Nothing. She made her film debut in Lars von Trier's critically acclaimed Breaking the Waves (1996), which earned Watson her first Academy Award nomination. She received a second nomination for Hilary and Jackie (1998). Her other film credits include Angela's Ashes (1999), Gosford Park (2001), The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004), Synecdoche, New York (2008), War Horse (2011), The Book Thief (2013) and The Theory of Everything (2014). Her TV credits include the miniseries The Politician's Husband.
