Al Pacino (Actor) .. Lt Col Frank Slade
Born: April 25, 1940 in New York
Best Known For: Playing Michael Corleone in The Godfather movies.
Early-life: Alfredo James Pacino was born in East Harlem, New York, on April 25, 1940. After his parents divorced, he and his mother moved in with his grandparents in the Bronx. He developed a passion for movies and the theatre as a child. His teachers encouraged him to attend the famous High School for Performing Arts, but he struggled academically and dropped out at 17. However, while funding himself by working in a series of unusual jobs, he studied at the prestigious Actors Studio in New York, before heading to Broadway.
Career: Pacino made his film debut in 1969's Me, Natalie, but it was his performance as a junkie in The Panic in Needle Park two years later that prompted director Francis Ford Coppola to cast him as Michael Corleone in The Godfather. The film was a huge hit and earned Pacino his first Oscar nomination. He followed it up with more hits including Serpico (1973), Dog Day Afternoon (1975) and Scarface (1983), but as his movie career appeared to be on the wane during the 1980s, he took a break to return to the theatre. He returned to the screen in 1989 with Sea of Love and, after seven previous nominations, went on to win an Oscar for Scent of a Woman (1992). He continues to combine movies, TV, theatre and directing work - recent projects include Danny Collins (2015) and Misconduct (2016).
Quote: 'I hope the perception is that I'm an actor. I never intended to be a movie star.'
Trivia: He reportedly turned down the role of Han Solo in Star Wars (1977).
Chris O'Donnell (Actor) .. Charlie Simms
Born: June 26, 1970 in Winnetka, Illinois
Best Known For: A string of big-budget thrillers.
Early-life: Christopher Eugene O'Donnell was born on June 26, 1970, in Illinois. He is the youngest child of seven siblings. He first started modelling at the age of 13, and at 16 began appearing in adverts. At 17, he was just about to give up on his showbiz dreams when he was offered the chance to audition for what would be his first film, Men Don't Leave. He didn't want to go to the audition, but his mother bribed him by saying she would buy him a new car if he went - he got the role (and presumably the car, too).
Career: Since his breakthrough, O'Donnell has appeared in a number of major motion pictures including Fried Green Tomatoes, the sensational Scent of a Woman, The Chamber, Circle of Friends and Vertical Limit. Big hits included fun offerings like The Three Musketeers. He also tried his hand at romantic comedy in films such as The Bachelor, and starred as Robin in the Batman franchise. For a time, he was tipped to be a true A-list star after building up an impressive body of work in a short time, but then he took some time away from the movies to be with his family and take some stage roles. He has since become a major small-screen presence in the hit series NCIS: Los Angeles.
Quote: 'When I made Batman Forever, I felt like I was making a movie. When I made Batman & Robin, I felt like I was making a toy commercial.'
Trivia: He enjoys playing golf.
Gabrielle Anwar (Actor) .. Donna
Born: February 04, 1970 in Laleham, Middlesex
Best Known For: Burn Notice.
Early-life: Gabrielle was born in Laleham, Middlesex, on February 4, 1970 to actress Shirley Hills and film editor Tariq Anwar. Gabrielle went on to study drama and dance at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. She made her TV acting debut in the miniseries Hideaway. Her first film role was in Manifesto (1988). TV parts followed in Summer's Lease, Prince Caspian and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and Press Gang. When she was dating American actor Craig Sheffer, she moved with him to Hollywood.
Career: After making a guest appearance in an edition of Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1992, Anwar starred in a number of films, including Scent of a Woman (1992), Body Snatchers (1993), The Three Musketeers (1993), and Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995). Her big break came in 2007 when she began playing Princess Margaret in American drama The Tudors. She was later cast as Fiona Glenanne in the drama Burn Notice, which ran for seven seasons between 2007 and 2013.
