Early-life:
John Partridge was born on July 24, 1971, and grew up in Bury, Lancashire, where he developed a love of dance at a young age. When he was just 10, he won a place at the prestigious Royal Ballet School, and was able to attend thanks to a government grant _ which has led the media to describe him as a real-life Billy Elliot. John eventually decided he wasn't cut out to be a ballet soloist, and turned his attention to musical theatre, joining a touring production of Cats when he was 16.
Career:
Partridge went on to star in numerous other stage musicals, including Tommy, Starlight Express, Grease, Rent and The Drowsy Chaperone while also appearing in various TV adverts. Away from acting, he's also worked with Kim Wilde and bands including U2 and Pet Shop Boys. In 2008, he joined the cast of EastEnders as Christian Clarke and stayed with the show until 2012 (he returned for two episodes in 2014 to attend the funeral of Lucy Beale). After leaving Albert Square, he starred in a revival of A Chorus Line. He was also a judge on Andrew Lloyd Webber's Over the Rainbow. In August 2014, he was a participant on BBC One celebrity gymnastics contest Tumble. In January 2016, he entered the Celebrity Big Brother house.
Quote:
'At 16, auditions are fun because you get to show off and do high kicks and the splits. It's only as you get further down the line that you get more insecure.'
