Early-life:
Born Judith Erskine in Bridge of Allan, Stirlingshire, on September 8, 1959 to Roy and Eileen. Her father, Roy Erskine, played football for Stirling Albion in the 1950s before becoming an optician. He was also a keen tennis player. When Judy was growing up, the tennis scene in Scotland was very small and very few women were playing competitively. Judy won 64 Scottish titles but the coaching and financial support she needed to compete professionally simply wasn't available. She qualified as a tennis coach at the age of 17 and went on to study French and business at Edinburgh University.
Career:
Murray got the opportunity to be the Scottish national tennis coach in 1995. She initially identified a number of children between the ages of seven and 11 who could benefit from coaching, including her sons Jamie and Andy. Not only was she their coach, she drove them to tournaments all around the UK. Since then, she has coached a number of aspiring tennis players. In 2011, she was appointed as the captain of Great Britain's team in the Federation Cup. In 2013, she watched Andy win Wimbledon. He has won more than $30million in career prize money. Jamie has also had a successful professional tennis career, specialising in doubles. He won the Wimbledon mixed doubles title in 2007. In 2014, Judy signed up to be a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing.
